Today's #FebruArty theme is #FishyFeb, and my portfolio was a bit lacking in fish, so I made an image this morning of a zebrafish ribosome, using #Blender and #MolecularNodes #SciArt More projects: e-nox.net/portfolio/

Today's #FebruArty theme is #FishyFeb, so I made an image of fish aquaporin, which are protein channels that help maintain water balance in the fish's body. Alpha helices are shown in blue, loops in yellow. Made in #Blender and #MolecularNodes #SciArt More projects: e-nox.net/portfolio/

Today's #FebruArty theme is #FishyFeb, and I'm lacking fishy pics, so I made this fish inflammasome disc, which are protein structures involved in sensing inflammatory signals, and triggering the immune response. Made in #Blender and #MolecularNodes #SciArt More projects: e-nox.net/portfolio/

Today's #FebruArty theme is "socks", so I made a SOX gene, which is a transcription factor that binds to the minor groove of DNA. Made in #Blender and #MolecularNodes #SciArt More projects: e-nox.net/portfolio/

Time to start posting regular protein renders again, 8Y48 from the @rcsbpdb.bsky.social weekly release, using #MolecularNodes #b3d #GeometryNodes #SciArt 🧪

If you want to visualize string data in Blender #GeometryNodes, this 4 min tutorial if for you: www.youtube.com/watch?v=EWUd...

Happy to report our enzyme found a home! rdcu.be/eaGXG New kid on the block P450 O-demethylase SyoA-the specificity of a monooxygenase with the simplicity of catalysis driven by peroxide. Retrofit your P450 with this active site chemistry today! #lignin #syringol Out today in Nature Communications.

🧬NEW VIDEO: How much work does it take for one of your cells to transcribe a single gene into mRNA? 🦠It's time to explore Chapter 1 of the Central Dogma in Eukaryotes. YT Link here: youtu.be/HZAmbbTcQ3M Rendered in Blender using @bradyajohnston.bsky.social 's Molecular Nodes add on.

Say hi to DroneCam, my Blender Drone Simulator Addon. I wanted to animate a camera like an FPV drone for one of my project, and it snowballed into this plugin that I'm very proud of. Get it out on Gumroad: globglob.gumroad.com/l/dronecam-b... #b3d #fpv

Posting it on Bluesky to save the post: My grandfather built motors that powered big machines. In a lab not so different from his workshop, my colleagues and I uncovered the assembly of the bacterial motor. www.nature.com/articles/s41... @natureportfolio.bsky.social #MolecularNodes #Science #STEM

Late to the party, oops! Joining in with #JanuArty Today's theme is tone, and I like the mix of light and dark, and muted colours in this image of clathrin, a molecular scaffold which rocks some awesome symmetry. Made with #Blender and #MolecularNodes More projects: e-nox.net/portfolio/ #SciArt

Last day of #JanuArty, theme is "angle". Here are some angular Lego bricks, making up the building blocks of life, DNA #SciArt Does anyone know of daily challenges for February? Or thinking of attempting daily proteins with #Blender & #MolecularNodes (if you have favourites, I'm taking requests!)

Today's #FebruArty theme is #ArtYear, so this is an visualisation of the LIGHT protein, which initiates intercellular signalling via HVEM and LTβR receptors, important during immune responses against cancer. Made with #Blender and #MolecularNodes #SciArt More projects: e-nox.net/portfolio/

Little visual representation of Docking I did for @medbioinorgchem.bsky.social last week 👨‍🔬 Still not comfortable using nodes in Blender but @bradyajohnston.bsky.social tutorials are always very helpful (and make proteins look tasty)

Microscopy Nodes is now up on bioRxiv! 🚀 This is a Blender extension that seamlessly integrates and visualizes 3D microscopy data (TIF & @zarr.dev). High-quality volume rendering for anyone, in both EM and fluorescence, regardless of computational expertise! 🔬 www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

Here's an animation I made that shows fluid flow in/out of the kidneys, with emphasis on the lymphatics since they are often left out of anatomical illustrations: ➡️ Fluid enters via the renal artery ⬅️ Fluid exits via the renal vein, lymphatics, and as urine #scicomm #sciart #kidney #anatomy

Fancy working at the Australian Synchrotron for a little bit? 🧪 Please share with your crystal pals! www.seek.com.au/synchrotron-...

Excited to finally share that our work is featured as the front cover of ACS Macromolecules' new issue! Image was powered by the one and only MolecularNodes (thx @bradyajohnston.bsky.social) while I was playing around with surface transparency 😁 #chemsky #compchem

I just released Blender CSV importer version 0.1.6. extensions.blender.org/add-ons/csv-... New feature: Reload and Hot Reload operators, implemented by @bradyajohnston.bsky.social Full changelog below.

I'm really happy about the new databpy module by @bradyajohnston.bsky.social. This enables so many new workflows, e.g. this exploration of a world population dataset. Through a python notebook, there's a direct bridge from the Excel table to the Blender viewport.

I'm happy and humbled to take on a new role with @rcsbpdb.bsky.social. I'll be continuing David Goodsell's work on the Molecule of the Month, starting with my first article on Assembly Line Polyketide Synthases! Check it out (animation included!) pdb101.rcsb.org/motm/301

Excited to present our lab's new work on GPCR antagonism: Contrary to popular belief, we propose that inverse agonists can bind to and act via GPCR:G protein complexes. We show this at KOR, through cellular assays, radioligand binding and cryoEM studies. A thread. 💊 🧪 www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Towards community-driven visual proteomics! Excited to finally share this large-scale curated & annotated dataset of 1829 high-quality #cryoET tomograms of the little green alga that just keeps giving— Chlamydomonas! 🧪🧶🧬🌾🌊🌍 Preprint📜: www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1... A short thread🧵👇

Version 0.1.5 of my Blender CSV Importer is out! 🚀 Now with a Python interface and the latest data-crunching power of @pola.rs. Special thanks to @bradyajohnston.bsky.social for contributing to this release! Full changelog in comment. Link: extensions.blender.org/add-ons/csv-...

What a great way to end the year! ✨ Today in @cellpress.bsky.social we report the structure and function of the Shedu anti-phage defense system. tinyurl.com/4crj6dnx A long 🧵...

🎉 Small Development Grant by @numfocus.bsky.social for Advanced Molecular Visualizations with #MolecularNodes and @blender3d.bsky.social! @yuxuanzhuang.bsky.social and @bradyajohnston.bsky.social will build an API & integrate with @projectjupyter.bsky.social. See www.mdanalysis.org/2024/12/12/s...

Was playing around with #virus strucures in #blender #b3d and #MolecularNodes ... this one turned out to look like a dying star 😅💥 not really scientifically accurate, but this was rather for fun at the moment and to try out a few things for future projects 😇

This is my first post here :) Our TFIIIC story continues with our latest work in NAR (academic.oup.com/nar/advance-...). Using cryo-EM and single-molecule fluorescence microscopy (smFM), we explored unanswered questions in our human TFIIIC structure. Want to see the updated TFIIIC structure?

HAPPY HOLLIDAYS!!! Illustration of a Holliday junction, made for fun in #Blender and #MolecularNodes #ArtAdventCalendar #SciArt More projects: e-nox.net/portfolio/
