i have tested cyberpunk, final fantasy xv, monster hunter wilds, crysis, all with no issue, and video render test in davinci ressolve, 4:2:2 and long gop, no issues. 8800 GT > GTX 280 > GTX 480 > GTX 780 TI > GTX 980 TI > GTX 1080 TI > RTX 3090 > RTX 5090 i have used nvidia all my life, no issues.

not to worry, ive attached a temperature sensor and im not using 3rd party cables, and ive spent a good 2 weeks reading almost everything on the issue since i had to wait to get the card. there's a thread about this in the comments as well! but thanks for the headsup regardless!

please read posts i made to pink as well. im not arguing 5090 doesnt have issues, but i am arguing the stock FE cable seems to address it. FE manual and pdf says 3 times on 3 pages to not use 3rd party. im an SFF builder, i dont want to use 5ft additional cable, but i will if it works.

thats my point, no one tests it. i bought a brand new sf1000 platinum too, as i said earlier i verified, used corsair cable first, power over 600w, put thermometer to touch cable, 100c. used FE cable included with the FE card from nvidia, cable cold to the touch, 530w. like oc3d tv's results.

whatever weird load balancing issues appear with third party simply doesnt happen on the stock FE or hasnt yet, i believe nvidia knows something 3rd party dont. But the manual pdf and in the box says no less than 3 times to not use other cables, their silence is very telling too.

there was significant changes to both cables and port in the past and now, and today's issues are brand new but it appears following the manual (no one read it) has some merit until we know more. i do appreciate ppl pouring out with warnings, i did spend almost all my freetime on this issue too.

Appreciate it! Nothing as satisying having the most powerful thing ever also be small, space saving and quiet! Now to immerse in all the awesome fantasy worlds 🧙‍♂️

for all the years ive posted on twatter no one notices my pieces, first time i post on bsky and it's caught immediately. ppl here really are more informed! yes it is nice catch! vintage but i had it repolished and rebrushed at likely the most skilled service in all norway, loving it!

thankfully cus i was aware and tested ahead i got no damage, the connector supposedly sustain 110c and melts at 150c but again, no one seems to use the stock FE cable, strange insistence on third party in all videos, even der8auer is like "ok ill get a new one" and then *pulls out sealed corsair*

as i said i verified it myself. I used corsair cable first, brand new SF1000 platinum psu, power over 600w for brief moments, put thermometer to touch cable, 100c. (it doesnt go higher) used FE cable included with the FE card from nvidia, cable cold to the touch, 530w like oc3d tv. huge oversight!

yet to see nvidia stock FE cable burn because no one uses it, the only person who did saw no issue. everyone else just keeps trying cablemod, corsair or moddiy they say it's all cables but literally no one tests the stock FE with four 8-pins except oc3d tv - less resistance, less wattage, less heat

im well aware trust me ive spent significant time on this but simple observation has left a blindspot in almost all these videos and its strange, every single video insists on using third party and doesnt even consider the stock FE, probs cus its bulky and uggo. I even went to chinese, kor, forums:

"it will burn" vs no video of 5090 FE cable burning yet. as per oc3d tv - less resistance, less wattage, less heat. <- only one to test FE cable. your image is from 4090, those were due to not being inserted fully, and not load distribution, that is a new issue appearing with 5090 3rd party cables.

11:43 he says it's a corsair cable attached to his watercooled 5090, and one from mid last year, also you can tell it's never the stock nvidia FE cable cus that's the one that splits into four 8 pins, and is very short. everyone uses some single cable from third party or psu manufacturer.

Not sponsored or review unit, i bought this card on my own with my own money for myself

Its a very small card tho, 2 slots, the founders edition is built different so i fit it into a case smaller than a ps5

yeah except you only see 3rd party cables burn and when oc3d tv plugged in the stock cable the resistance lowered significantly, wattage went well below 600 and cable became a temp you could touch make of this info what you will, ive verified it with my own card plus using settings from optimum
