I have a flowy linen top like that. It had a thin strip of fabric between the shoulders, apparently so it hangs better in the shop. Someone finally told me it was okay to cut it and surprise! The bloody thing fits better now 😂

I'm proud that I'm learning to set boundaries, and to stand up for myself, and to look in the mirror and see someone I like. I'm proud of the woman I've become, and for surviving long enough to see her manifested.

It's been an insane 5 years. The tail end of one shitty presidency and the beginning of another. Surgeries. Hormones. Came out as a lesbian. Finally dialed in my make-up and hair game. Got dx'd as autistic and with CPTSD. Got laid. Got laid off. Got a new job.

Prior to the email, I pulled my roommates, @laurenwanwig.bsky.social and her husband Ian, aside and came out to them in person on the off chance they decided I needed to find other accommodations (obvs they were great, but one never knows, does one?).

Before the Meta properties got the scoop, I sent a carefully crafted email to my immediate family. None of them acknowledged it then, and hardly any of them really do now. 6 months later I got a voicemail from my mom deadnaming and misgendering me. I haven't heard from her since.

My name came from a combination of the Looking Glass song, my aunt (who's more like my mom), and @brandicarlile.bsky.social (just the spelling 😂). I asked my aunt and cousins for their blessing before taking their last name, which makes it extra special.
