Get ready to FLEX, SEC fans. The full #SEC TV schedule for the 2025 #CFB season.

Back pay will go into escrow until appeal process ends, an NCAA attorney tells CBS Sports. This will not affect revenue sharing starting July 1.

8 former athletes have appealed the House settlement approval, arguing that the back payment structure violates Title IX. Back pay in the $2.8 billion settlement was scheduled to begin in late July, but that's on hold pending new appeal of the House settlement approval.

The Autonomy conferences say they’re encouraged by the introduction of a discussion draft of the “SCORE Act,” which would introduce national standards for NIL and prohibit players from being employees at their schools.

Sources: It’s believed Texas Tech will pay its players $55 million (revenue sharing + NIL) among all its programs this year, making the Red Raiders perhaps the highest-paying college athletics program in the country.

Texas Tech says its fundraising arm, the Red Raider Club, will be responsible for generating $14 million annually to help fund its $20.5 million revenue-sharing model.

SEC commissioner Greg Sankey confirms he had a meeting/round of golf with President Donald Trump and they discussed college sports Sunday. He appreciated his interest/perspective. What was discussed? "I believe those are best left for the moment on the golf course."

A Big Ten official told CBS Sports they expected a resolution on May 20. An ACC admin thought May 30. An NCAA executive thought a Friday. A few lawyers involved in the case have a betting pool guessing when it will drop. All are losers so far. www.cbssports.com/college-foot...

My idea for the new College Football Playoff format

I've attended many SEC spring summits. This was one of the weirdest. CFB was tilting their heads in amazement, too, particularly the SEC's ally, the Big Ten. Reporting on why the SEC now holds the key to CFP format and why 5+11 suddenly seems viable: www.cbssports.com/college-foot...

Mike Leach is now eligible for the College Football Hall of Fame. The NFF has revised the minimum career winning percentage required for coaching eligibility from .600 to .595 starting with the 2027 class. Leach's winning percentage is .596.

Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark tells CBS Sports he had a "great conversation" with the league's athletic directors this morning and they are "aligned on our preference" for a 5+11 CFP model. Big 12 coaches will meet with Yormark on Thursday to discuss further.

66 FBS coaches have left for the NFL in the last two cycles. Meanwhile, the pipeline from the NFL to the FBS has slowed, with 41 jumping to CFB in the last two cycles. The NFL-to-CFB number has dropped three straight years. Our study: www.cbssports.com/college-foot...

Gist of SEC ADs I’ve spoken to at spring meetings is they’d be shocked if they vote this week on whether to move to 9 league games. They want CFP format for ‘26 finalized before making a decision.

Ready for SEC spring meetings

Big 12 commish Brett Yormark to CBS Sports on today's CFP vote: "Today’s decision might not be the best thing for the Big 12, but it was the best thing for college football. I hope what’s best for college football continues to be the priority in any discussions moving forward."

ACC commish Jim Phillips tells CBS Sports that today's vote to change CFP to straight seeding is "in the best interest of the sport," even if it "may not always benefit the ACC."

Imagine the confusion among fans when we go from straight seeding 1-12 in the CFP to possibly 13 automatic qualifiers, with playoff play-in games, in a 16-team CFP. All within a calendar year. Talk about whiplash.

Sources: CFP leaders have unanimously approved straight seeding for this upcoming season's College Football Playoff. 5 highest-ranked conference champs are assured a spot but 4 highest-ranked champs not assured a bye. We reported last week that straight seeding was expected to be approved.

AAC has launched "a new business division, created to lead all aspects of the league’s revenue generation, sponsorship strategy, media rights, brand partnerships, technology, emerging business ventures and long-term commercial innovation across the conference." It's called American RISE Ventures

Sources: CFP executives are expected to meet in a few hours to discuss straight seeding for the 2025 playoff and there is momentum for an approval today, as CBS Sports reported last week.

Who had a retired Nick Saban winning a trophy before Alabama?

The administrations at Clemson and Notre Dame have agreed in principle to the already-announced 12-year series and are still working on finalizing the longform agreement, according to Clemson's associate counsel.

Missouri defensive line coach Al Davis resigned Friday, the program announced. Defensive tackles coach David Blackwell will assume defensive line coaching duties.

I'm looking forward to reading my ol' buddy Rick Fires' book. The dude is a character and a riot to be around. I had the pleasure of traveling with him to 2009 CWS. He is extremely passionate about high school and college sports, and it bleeds on the paper every time he writes.

House v NCAA plaintiff attorney Jeffrey Kessler to CBS Sports: "We believe that all of the concerns of the Court have been addressed and are hopeful for a quick final approval so that the athletes can start realizing the phenomenal benefits of the settlement."

Source: Nick Saban and Texas billionaire Cody Campbell met in person today to discuss the presidential commission on college sports. The conversation was positive, and the expectation is Saban will be involved.

Pitt football plans to participate in "grandfathering in" players if the House settlement is tweaked with a voluntary directive to temporarily exceed roster limits, Pat Narduzzi tells me. Narduzzi said that would lead to about 115 or 116 players on the roster next fall.

I just heard a loud yell from a meeting room here at ACC spring meetings. I can confirm it was Miami head coach Mario Cristobal, who was celebrating after he landed 5-star offensive tackle Jackson Cantwell.

Bill Belichick on Jordon Hudson on SportsCenter here at ACC meetings: "Really, off to the side, it’s a personal relationship. She doesn’t have anything to do with UNC football. I’m excited to be back in coaches meetings and prepare for June and then August ..."
