True and true. Didn't say it's going to be easy. We need better people in politics and come to think of it, running our media organizations.

La question qui tue. Things will change. I think the politicians will change. People will vote in leaders they believe have the strength and courage to stand up to Trump. And will ditch the media that misreads the room. Look at the reaction to this Check Up thing.

Been alarming how useless our institutions have been.

It is unbelievable. This is where we find out who's who. Our politicians have let us down, the media has totally let us down. Unreal. But we the people know, as was shown with this Cross Country Check Up debacle. We know what's what. We know how to address this thing.

I woke up this morning and realized they did this to curry favour with PP. To try to be "even handed, objective". But there aren't two sides to this debate, at least in Canada. Big mistake. Played right into the hands of the defunding crowd.

I know eh? A terrible show. Dull, uninteresting. Nothing new was said. And CBC bent over backwards to make it U.S.-friendly. What the hell.

Ah OK. I thought I was listening to CBC IN CANADA. haha

You folks made a mistake and when you make a mistake, you should apologize and move forward not double down on the mistake. This is what Trump and Musk want you to do – to normalize their odious talk of taking over Canada. You have the wrong question and the wrong topic.
comment in response to post
Simple question: Why would you, the program team, the CBC opt to dignify and normalize an ongoing attack on Canadian sovereignty?
comment in response to post
You're not listening. Isn't that key to your vocation? You're doubling down instead of paying attention to what is offensive to Cdns. This doesn't deserve a platform on CBC. Don't even get me started on Kevin O'Leary—the guy who wants to open up & gift our natural resources to the US.

The pushback on this particular topic should be so large that it shouldn’t be generating excuses from its host. It should be generating an apology and a dismissal of the topic.

It’s the same question, re-worded. They are hellbent on making this their topic.

We are not upset, we are appalled that the CBC is working in the service of Trump by normalizing his insane and dangerous rhetoric. Romanticizing the idea of invasion by the US is terribly irresponsible of you. I am normally a big fan, but today I am ashamed of my CBC. Selling us out for ratings.
comment in response to post
No. Just no. Stop normalizing this. Do not give the far right a single talking point to add to the misinformation agenda.

A better title would be, “Trump’s threats of annexation: What we need to do, and get prepared”.

I am happy to see you folks changed the question. Good on you. But la question qui tue – why did no one in that room realize the original question was offensive and played along to the Trump playbook? It was tone deaf. Hoping you think about how that happened.

I believe you. And good philosophy re Lydon’s egotistical rantings. He made a few great records but he’s become an irritating old rock star.

I think he’ll come round but he does often look out of sorts on the ice.

It’s unfair to expect Slaf to become a Tkachuk. The only common point is their size. Both will be great players in their own way. Slaf will become a puck protection expert and a great passer. While Brady’s attributes are grit, hits and front net presence, controlling the puck isn’t is strength.

So do I and I know he will. But this season has been disappointing.
