my first car was my parents' from when they were first married, they kept it all the years I was growing up
I bought it when I was 16, moved to a big city to go to school, drove it for years, graduated and got a job and made some money, bought something else, sold it back to them for what I paid

there's a place called red rock coulee that's just a regular prairie plain but dotted with these round red boulders
we used to bring a picnic and sit on top of them in the sun and wind

we used to drive around and explore old ghost towns
there's some strange alien landscapes out there if you go far enough

totally, I've been having that thought for a few months now as I wrestle with both not wanting to store a car long term and also not wanting to let it go at all
every time I drive I feel like, what if this is the last time ever?
I'd love to buy a little something again someday, but who knows

the bren.cred score is calculated by:
- computing the levenshtein distance (minimum number of single-character edits needed to change one string into another)
- normalizing it based on the length of the longer string
- convert to percentage
so 'brennan.computer' always wins, because exact match

this is how the bicycle market feels in the past 5 years: we've sort of perfected this object to the point where any new feature has to be arbitrary gimmick because what else is there to hone

if the nutrition isn't there I'm not shocked that we instinctively want to move on, flipping channels over and over
hungry for protein, but everything is doritos and so we eat and eat because the satiation signal is never actually achieved
but 1 in 100 is meat, and so we light up, and try again
comment in response to

this is actually my core thesis: everyone says that the internet / our devices are overflowing with lights and colours and dopamine and I actually think it's so nutritionally devoid that we instead instinctively try to strip-mine it for any scrap and morsel
and every so often it works, which loops

no idea if this will even make sense, but my conception is like: physical male playing a girl playing a tomboy
so the net result is this soft boi androgeny that's not really trans and not super femme, because the aura is masculine, but it's not a man being masculine, it's female being masculine

mostly life goes on
I can remember maybe one or two days in my whole kid life where we actually closed the schools or cancelled much of anything
sometimes the hill up to the highschool would freeze to sheet ice and no one could drive up it, least of all busses, but you just go around

probably not a single spit, for warmth / size reasons, but if it was somehow sprayed as little droplets then yeah, you can speed it up with reduced thermal mass to surface area ratio

it's not so bad
I had fleece lined jeans for the paper route, but didn't wear them to school. our walk / wait was probably only 5 mins if you hit it right, so the exposure time is not terrible

yeah, small town prairie canada
I have such specific sensory-memories of the contrast between still, silent, dry cold darkness walking / waiting and then climbing on board the melting damp hot sock smell loud school bus

railroad tycoon was juuuuust too early for me, never played it (although my father in law is a huge fan)
I remember the first roller coaster tycoon coming in a cereal box, and really those cheerios changed my entire life

when I was a young teen I had a paper route where I delivered papers at 5:30am year round, and in the winter it gets to be -20°, -30°, -40° sometimes.
there was a highway a few km away from our house that you could start to hear only when the air was cold enough for the sound to carry through it
