She’s a focused kid. She’ll get there.

Myth Getting Wild is my next D&D character.

Whoops, I thought it said INA. It’s possible I need new glasses. Yeah, that happens in parts of India too. Apparently it’s a really common immigration headache because so many countries just aren’t set up for a person not having a surname.

A lot of Indonesians have no surname.

I don’t think they published a list but the arena MC announced at least some of their names and what they were judging. You could hear it on the stream.

I’m not sure when Jordyn’s baby is due but I’m guessing she won’t be traveling to Worlds at that point. Maybe Kyla?

Yeah, I think I’m going to have to put giant disclaimers on this.

My favorite personal experience with the sad trombone crowd is when they downvoted me for saying a tent over a parkour course won’t protect athletes from lightning during bad weather.

Yeah, my only hesitation with attempting this is we don’t know how all the scoring systems are going to display this. If somebody just adds it to the D score without notation, we’re screwed.

Yeah, for MAG I think it would be neat to show who’s getting them consistently! Like displaying a percentage of sticks.

One of the German Instagram accounts I follow confirmed that the SDL stream is geolocked.

If you ask them I’m betting the answer is “this is sport, not theater”, but I generally think it wouldn’t be a good idea to have a lot of people getting makeup airbrushed on. There’s plenty of con horror stories about trashed hotel rooms from airbrush makeup overspray.

Yeah, most of us have been really confused that the WTC hasn’t made a rule about pants since they were so quick to ban theatrical makeup. But it hasn’t caused the uproar that the black pants caused at 1994 Worlds, I guess.

The WAG code does not have rules about unitard legs, except that they have to be the same color as the top part and come down to the ankle. No color restrictions. The MAG code does have rules about the color of pants, basically that you can’t wear dark colors.

Yeah. I get that people are trying to figure out how it happened and want to put the best possible light on him, but the truth is he’s an adult who competes more than any other US gymnast. And WADA is very clear that an adult athlete is responsible for himself.

If I see “maybe he has ADHD” again I’m gonna scream.

Yeah, this wasn't some overly-pedantic interpretation of an unintentionally broad rule that was written to cover a different type of situation. This was a very specific, well-understood rule that was written to prohibit the exact things Yul did.

Germans in the 19th century. Gymnastics was invented in the German unification movement as part of a plan to not get run over by Napoleon again. A lot of old gyms in the US were called Turner clubs—Turner is German for gymnast and immigrants brought the sport over.

A couple weeks ago the OU coach tweeted a list of current and former OU athletes qualified to WC. There was an asterisk for athletes qualified but not competing. It was doing a lot of heavy lifting there too.

I do too, but I’m not looking forward to the record keeping on this since I’m sure some other competitions won’t keep it separate. Bonuses just cause messes. Apparently at Elite Canada the WAG judges completely forgot about the bonus for doing both forward and backward saltos.

And they didn’t randomly show up! We knew they were coming back because they told us they were coming back.

tl;dr: bad fit is my Roman Empire, please don't get me started.
comment in response to post
(I don't actually expect anybody to know this stuff because knowledge of how clothes are constructed is fairly uncommon now. But it would have been REALLY COOL if Turn had recognized this and modernized their fit options instead of... whatever this is.)

As far as I know, leo companies are relying on super-stretchy fabrics to fit leos on as many body shapes as possible instead of making for different body shapes. A garment can go onto a person without it actually fitting that person, and that's what l'm hearing in his latest description.

I’m not saying I would vote for him, but I would trust him with math more than… any gymnastics official outside of T&T, probably.

My conspiracy brain has decided the IOC must have told the FIG they couldn’t have secret qualifiers and that’s the only reason we got QF videos last year.

Yeah, I know they’re not a complicated operation but this seems a bit too last-minute even for their platform.

After last year’s Elevien experience I foolishly thought they might have realized the error of their ways. I appear to be Charlie Brown to their Lucy at this point.

Smart money says no, but then, smart money always says no where the FIG is involved.

If you’ve made it this far, here’s maybe my favorite of the scams in that YouTube series. It involves a fake letter from… well, I’ll let you find out.
