What is the overlap b/t people signing a petition to stop installation of speed _cushions_ and the drivers whose speeding is causing homeowners on streets with the highest-ranking documented speeding patterns to sign ballots affirming that they support installing them? www.wsmv.com/2025/01/15/s....

Thanks to @nashvillescene.com for helping to get the word out about the great work of Launch Pad www.nashvillescene.com/news/citylim.... The wave of anti-DEI pressure on corporations and other orgs only increases the need for others to step up to help young people who mostly need “someone to care.”

Great job, Buckeyes!

Thanks to @nashvillebanner.bsky.social for putting together this concise guide nashvillebanner.com/2025/01/06/u... in both English and Spanish that gathers helpful information from trusted agencies to help families understand their rights and prepare for interactions with immigration enforcement.

Thanks to @nashvillescene.com for covering the recent passing of Darek Tanner. Darek created space not just for LGBTQ+ Nashvillians but really for anyone who needed a friendly and affirming environment. Darek will be sorely missed.

Good morning from Bay City, Michigan. Love the mural and the bike racks.

East Nashville never disappoints! Just now the motorcycle riders popping wheelies during a takeover of Gallatin Ave are showing off their finest Christmas pajamas.

Good call! Thanks to @nashvillescene.com for naming Karl Meyer the 2024 Nashvillian of the Year www.nashvillescene.com/news/coverst.... Karl combines hard work with a caring heart when advocating for good causes. He is such a blessing to Nashville.

Check out this new website where you can learn more about Nashville’s Housing & Infrastructure Study being led by the Metro Planning Department publicinput.com/s50752. Lots of work is underway to support informed strategies for meeting Nashville’s housing needs. Be sure to subscribe for updates!

Here are some key words/phrases in this announcement: “framework,” “best practices,” “starting point,” “guidance,” “for jurisdictions that are interested.” This is all well and good! But it sounds more like technical assistance than federal intervention to incentivize or finance housing production.

It was fun to check out the construction progress at the District Wharf since the last time I was here in 2021. Love the new fountain that juxtaposes natural stone with its texture and angular edges with the smooth, circular and curvilinear buildings and walkways that were designed around it.

Thanks to @victoryinstitute.bsky.social for organizing this AM’s #LGBTQLeaders24 plenary, The Future of Artificial Intelligence. The panelists from the industry, labor, journalism and legislative sectors held a robust discussion. Key takeaway: use the power of convening to reach positive outcomes.

Thanks to @victoryinstitute.bsky.social for scheduling today’s #LGBTQLeaders2024 conference break-out session on #ClimateChange and adaptation. The Climate Adaptive Cities and States: Strategies for Municipal and State Leaders panel offered valuable insights for city/county planning professionals.

I am grateful to @nc5philwilliams.bsky.social for reporting on local Gainesboro residents’ reactions to Christian nationalists’ efforts to take over the town. My mom’s family has been in Jackson County for about 200 years. It is heartening to see the community stand up to that kind of hate.

This sounds like an article in The Onion. But no, it’s real life in Tennessee. Oops! Power outage caused by former TN mayor crashing while reaching for sausage biscuit www.wsmv.com/2024/11/27/p...

Planning Magazine highlights the Metro Planning Department’s community engagement through the Imagine East Bank Vision Plan to design neighborhoods from the ground up while seamlessly integrating the new Nissan Stadium into the mixed-use, mixed-income urban neighborhood fabric tinyurl.com/2taprm7a.

I wish my friends back in Ohio a lot of luck in passing an anti-discrimination amendment to the state constitution www.wyso.org/2024-11-22/c.... There is much work to do, and I know that they will work hard.

Sadly, this will be the first Thanksgiving without Alice tinyurl.com/mvsksm38. But you can get anything you want, if only in a beloved song.

Will the closure of the scrap yard on Nashville’s East Bank really happen this time tinyurl.com/4jrh3wa5? Metro’s landing an Oracle campus just downriver and redeveloping the stadium campus next door may have shifted the market enough to make something financially viable. Excited to see what’s next.

This is a wonderful tribute to the late Father Charlie Strobel and the many people whom he has helped tinyurl.com/3hrrx6rb. Father Strobel started his Room In The Inn ministry at East Nashville’s Holy Name Catholic Church. It is terrific to see this mural feature the community that he championed.

Big news for Nashville’s LGBTQ community that Trax bar has found a new space tinyurl.com/4yftt26k. Trax was an important venue where performer Bianca Page raised awareness/funds for HIV prevention & care. City Council renamed the street for her. Trax lost that lease but landed nearby. Welcome back!

My sincere condolences to the family of Bill Freeman www.nashvillescene.com/news/pithint....
