Forgot to upload my Feb highlights (it's been a big week). 🎣 Barda ⛰️ Children of Morta 🧡 The Measure All very good stuff πŸŽ‡

I finished The Measure, and oh, what a book. Everyone around the world wakes up one day to a string that tells them their life expectancy, then we watch the world deal with it. Lots of questions about 'what is a life' and 'how should people live' and such. Would recommend πŸ‘πŸ“š #booksky

I'm tired of internet sites, I miss magazines, and I want to write little things again, so I'm going to start a PDF newsletter each month with a short write-up of some of the things I enjoyed. This month: πŸ‰ Dragon Quest IX 🐧Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance most fowl 🌊 The spear cuts through Water

πŸ“š Book 2 of 2025: The Spear Cuts Through Water. Oh boy, what a book. Worth the hype. A unique framing story. A fantasy world with all the tropes, but feels so original. Psychic tortoises. This has it all. Defs recommend ⭐ #booksky

Tokusatsu is good, actually.

Finished Rebel Fire, the second instalment in a great YA series about using paper to create mythical beasts and...what it means to be human. Loving the series. It's kinda like Avatar the Last Airbender cross with ROD: Read or Die (an anime from my teenage years I swear only I remember). #booksky

More movie theatres should still have 9 normal-sized tv screens together playing trailers for upcoming movies so I have something to do while waiting for a movie to start (that isn't looking at my phone).

Wallace and Gromit: Vengeance most fowl was great and brought me back to being a kid, obsessed with the shorts. ...but this one thought occured to me pretty quickly and I couldn't unsee it. Now you too can't unsee it.

This Oppenheimer movie really needed a light-hearted rap at the start before getting into the real downer stuff, huh?

I finished Piranesi late last night, making it the 27th book I finished in 2024. Lives up to the hype for sure! My reading goal for 2025 is to tell more people about good books and then read more myself, thank you. #booksky

I watched Ghost Cat Anzu, which was a pretty cool and very pretty movie that was kinda based around the premise of, "What if My Neighbour Totoro, but if Totoro was kinda a loafy jerk."

Me: I've been thinking about tabletop design again. My 2 year-old: Potato-top dine! Me: Oh, interesting idea. Can I have that? My 2 year-old: No.

this cures what ails me every time

Same, Tendo. Same. #KamenRider

The energy I'm bringing to 2025

It was very silly of me to start playing Vampire Survivors on a Sunday night. I don't want to work, I just want to survive those vamps!

The best podcast -- either about big robots and space politics, or otherwise.

Teaching the toddler about good music by endlessly playing Chill from Dr. Mario (GBC).

Blue sky reminding me that I watched Look Back on the weekend after a very exhausting, toddler-filled day... It's great and everyone should watch Look Back. I should put my thoughts down about it a bit later.

"Look Back" πŸ’§πŸ’—

Brice lore: This is from the first episode of Pokemon that I ever watched and this very scene is what made me think Pokemon is cool. Bonk.

Of course the first thing I listen to on the Nintendo music app is Go KK Rider. It's the only song I like!

Kamen Rider Gavv absolutely delivering with the fight scenes Goth lady kicking ass with scythes, Junko Komura knows what she is cooking with this series. I hope one day to make something that can come close to being as cool as this #KamenRider

Caught up on Kamen Rider Gavv. Really enjoying it so far. Lots of fun, coupled with amazing fights. Plus, gotta love the gochizos. #kamenRider #Tokusky

Some cool beach reads. It's been too long ⚑ #comics #SHAZAM

Krypto! This is really starting to seem like the Superman movie I've wanted for years.

Finished Tatami Time Machine Blues. If I wasn't already obsessed with Morimi, this is making it official, I guess. They're just very good stories in a stressful but cosy way. #books #booksky

Oooh finished Station Eleven and...this one's going to stick with me for a while. Two big thumbs ups from me. #booksky

Ok, my new hobby is collecting only fancy editions of books. Of course, it's the Charles Vess-illustrated Earthsea that starts this craze. #amreading #booksky

I enjoyed The cat who saved books! It's about a cat who...saves books with the help of a young man. Lots of questions about the role of books in our lives and society and how we grieve. A short and interesting tale. #amreading

People are asking me to do things other than read comics and they all need to cut that out

At the beach! Reading books! This one was a good one. It's about books. #books #amreading

I went to a small tabletop gaming convention and played some Marvel Crisis Protocol and got my butt handed to me. Also picked up some Man of Steel comics and found a nice copy of The Question πŸ•΅οΈβ€β™‚οΈ ⁉️

Finished the second T Kingfisher Easton book. Such spooky. Lots of breathless spooky. Would recommend. #books #amreading
