People are pumping out resumes, Powerpoint decks, marketing copy, proposals, social media posts, email content, etc. AI is making these things faster to do but also creating a huge gap in our connection to them. Remember, someday you will be asked to speak to these products, defend them. Can you?

If your organization treats learning as an event, don’t be surprised when people treat it like an interruption.

See the film Arctic. Solo pilot, crashed in Arctic. Bleak survival story. The importance of keeping your humanity. Not your typical wilderness survival tropes.

Breakfast of champions.

Enterprise social technology works when Work is social.

Measuring organizational learning? If it isn’t a measure of what people are doing, doing better or doing different, then you’re measuring the wrong things.

“A coder working on a passion project works 12 hours straight and calls it energizing. That same programmer, doing maintenance on legacy code they consider meaningless, feels exhausted after 2 hours.” - from Brain Food newsletter

I’ve been watching the ongoing debate in the talent development space about AI and I believe that the disruption has begun, where courses/classes won’t be the default. Not yet. AI can and will be used to develop these materials still. It’s a case of the future being here but not equally distributed

Tinkering with my website. Got intrigued by the concept of telling a better “career story”. Thoughts? markbritz.com

youtu.be/ZocWZYJx6Ic?... Happy ValenTIMES!

A wise woman shared this with me: “Things don’t happen to you, they happen for you.” I return to it a lot lately.

My article “unboxing” ;) #orgdesign #iopsych #social

Att: #iopsych #OrgDev and #orgdesign folks. Would love to have you all take a read of my article in ATDs TD magazine on the role of Org Design on employee social behavior. It’s not research but rather an approach. www.td.org/content/td-m...

I have a habit of after waking in the morning, pouring coffee, I grab my phone… and write (type?). The ideas and thoughts seem to spill out more for me in the quiet of the dark morning. How ‘bout you?

I feel like L&D, specifically those talented folks using rapid elearning tools to produce courses may be living on borrowed time. I feel AI will make personalized learning a reality and deeper tracking of its use will be the new compliance measure, replacing course completions and scores

What makes an author? Or more specifically the author of a book? I’m seeing many compilations lately where several people contribute chapters to a book and one, (maybe the catalyst for it and/or the one who interacted with the publisher perhaps) is identified as THE author. Seems inaccurate, no?

L&D, stop calling people “learners”. Their companies see them as employees or workers, so do their bosses and peers, heck, they do too. A learner is more akin to a student. They’re not in your school. They have a job to do, skills to gain not a degree. Right mindset, right action.

TWO social media tactics (LinkedIn in particular) that are past their shelf life. 1. Rando holding a handwritten sign promoting/selling or virtue signaling 2. Live “influencer” types walking, talking while HOLDING their lav mic. (Srsly. It has a clip, use it). Ok. I apparently need more coffee.

I appreciate all the work related science being shared about motivation, bias, stress, etc. but it’s (once again) focused solely on building individual strength and resilience vs. making companies better FOR people. ORG DESIGN IS NOT ABOVE REPROACH. #OrgDesign #IOPsych

Businesses. Your social strategy generally sucks anyway. Why not dump all but say LinkedIn? - cut your losses gain a soul.

In case you just need to take a moment to chill, here’s 20 sec of my snail eating/ cleaning the aquarium.
