All actions cause some evil. The only problem with "lesser evil" is that it might be worse than some other "least evil". No one actually believes in "do no evil (at all)", such a person would necessarily condemn all surgery, for example.

Russian "hard left" quickly turned into fascism itself, so maybe it's better to have soft left than hard right with red paint.

In large part because vast majority of humans lack it.

A moronic, anti-creative take. As expected from zealots. ChatGPT is amazing for providing concise information about topics too complex to easily google, without forcing the user to guess the exact terms that are used in literature.

The best thing that Javascript did was teach us what not to do.

Parallels the idea that "AI isn't intelligent" - people who say the phrase never, ever, bother to show that intelligence exists and that humans can have it. There's an intuitive idea that humans are strictly smarter than computers can ever be.

That's because NFTs were always useless, Teslas have superior alternatives, but LLMs have their uses where they can't be replaced without loss of money or quality. They have their niches and they'll not be unearthed from those.

"Let's agree to disagree" is a horrible phrase. It shows contempt and weakness at the same time.

"Free speech absolutists" could be respectable, but they don't exist. Stupid, but respectable. They'd have to defend shouting "fire" in crowded theater.

LLMs try to make sense of the world. They reinforce the consistent ideas and have problems "remembering" the inconsistent ones. A lot of right-wing ideology depends on doublethink and inconsistencies, so it doesn't translate well to automated reasoning. It's truly human (in the "human animal" sense)

You let people posting things you don't like ruin your perception. I'd pity you, since it's pretty pathetic, but your "take" is just so childish, so immature, that it feels like I'd be taking away an important life lesson from you. If people posting art you don't like ruins art, you don't know art.

Somewhere deep in the internet, there is a moderate centrist, voice of reason, gender egalitarian, who is very smart, and has all of this info in his bio.

It looks scary on paper, but it's still flu variant 9001 that will be the biggest killer. We don't need deadly super-mutant amoebae from space when we have idiots in charge of health and animal agriculture constantly pumping out new variants of known diseases.

It's weird that bigots aren't using it as an excuse to call trans people "chemical women/men". It would be a good thought-terminating cliche, a zinger that kills the discussion without contributing to it.
comment in response to post
Isn't being British just about being transphobic, saying weird words like "cunt" or "mate", and eating abominable food?
comment in response to post
You're just not creative enough when plagiarizing then. You can get away with less than 10% of the changes that AI adds if you call it "homage" or "protected by fair use".
comment in response to post
This won't change the perception of transphobes, they genuinely think that any man (or boy) hurt by dumb shit like this "deserves it". It's the other side of "women need protection from men" ideology.

Meaningless on bluesky. If you want to feel persecuted, say it on platforms owned by Musk or Zucc.

It puts you exactly between two sexes when it comes to sports: stronger than any female who ever existed, but weaker than the weakest male. Which is why trans women should not be allowed to play chess with "biological women", they have an unfair advantage.

We should find humans with mutations that make them empathetic and ensure only those humans pass on their genes, until the idea of "mutant cat with health problems? so cool!" is dead.

"Male Emissions"??? It's cheesier than gouda and I don't mean the cruelty-free alternative kind...

Tired with catching Magikarps over and over again? “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.“, but if you only use the Old Rod, none of them will be above lvl 10!

I keep running out of crayons, but it's because the believers in "crop death" argument keep eating them.

It's not getting worse. If anything, it was much worse in the past. 100 years ago, suggestions of veganism would be unthinkable, instead of causing grumbling, cope, and guilt, like today. The fact that normies feel guilty around vegans is actually a big win.

He's so shameless. Just saying things that obviously go against his agenda, without considering the consequences. At least JKR is shameful. She took down the mold photos immediately.

They don't admit that they hate vegans, they aren't honest enough. They say vegans are obnoxious or something like that.

Get a cat, they'll teach you more realistic standards. A glance in your direction is the best I can do.

Not a scientific theory. Scientific theory must be robust and describe the world well. Most of these are proven good enough. It's "theory of gravity" and "theory of evolution", not "law of gravity" or "law of evolution".

Last warning, Ukraine! Keep doing what you're doing and we'll DO SOMETHING about it! You're crossing a red line! This time it's really, really red, like REALLY RED! Imagine a drunk attacks you and every time you punch him back, he warns you "that's it, one more and I'm going all out!".

They have a sick fetish of being called "sis" and told about hygiene! They're converting children with their vile sis hypno ASMR!
comment in response to post
"Theory" is not a bad term, it actually describes something with good explanation value. It's not opposite of "reality", but rather opposite of "I dunno lol, it just happens". You're probably looking for the word "hypothesis". This one doesn't need to be good.

Only partly true. Many of them hate not against logic, but rather independently of it, just because they were duped into it and peer-pressured. Like that viral story of an old guy who wanted to vote against trans rights, but was "converted" when he actually met trans people.
comment in response to post
The problem is, you're doing that here. If you're not willing to babysit the saveable but still evil idiots, you're putting your own comfort over lives of their victims.
comment in response to post
Some people do care, because they are willing to expend some extra effort to help shitty people get non-shitty. Making the world a better place necessarily involves interacting with the parts that make the current world evil.

Wasn't Labour burned enough by their failures? Looks like they need to be constantly reminded not to fuck up.
comment in response to post
Not really. High IQ correlates with "functional empathy" rather than "empathic concern". Intelligent people are more likely to act kind if they have empathic concern for well being of others, but aren't more likely to have empathic concern.
comment in response to post
It's not the dumbest belief out there. Lots of resources are expended on conflating "socialism" with "authoritarianism", so even just moderately stupid people end up believing it. It's a hard myth to dispel because it's not obviously wrong, only wrong once you apply enough logic.

Noticed and appreciating the intentionally de-capitalized "putin". It's such a Slavic gesture.

"We can always tell except when it's your fault, but then it's your fault and a lie and therefore doesn't count." Just like "it's binary, except when there's a DISORDER, but DISORDERS don't count".

The real issue is, is it more weird than raising a warm-blooded animal that spends a ton of kcal and water on thinking and feeling, just to eat parts of said animal?

"It hurts business" Which of course disregards the possibility of some businesses deserving to get hurt.

Have to disagree, plenty of people who deserve scorn, also have genuine "haters". Pick a popular or anti-popular youtuber. They certainly have some hate-watchers, who don't just ignore, but seek out information on their anti-favorite.

There are two kinds of meat eaters: * Coping, fallacious ones that lie to themselves and others * Ones whose logic would also work perfectly well, with no alterations, to defend cannibalism and pedophilia Here we have the latter kind. At least they're honest.
comment in response to post
"Least evil" would not be a fallacy, but "lesser of two evils" can suggest forcing a dichotomy and hiding other choices, which would involve fallacies. This is why it's often called a fallacy.
