Where I live in Australia, the ambulance is free, hospital is free, and I'm pretty sure the helicopter is free. I read a story on Reddit about an ambulance ride to hospital costing $90,000 in USA. 90 fucking grand just to get to hospital, and they couldn't even say no because they were unconscious.

Australia is one of the most multicultural countries in the world. Rocco will take a little while, but his attitude and drive/ambition are fantastic. He's dominated international junior competition for years, but looked very raw in the NBL against grown men. He's still super young, though! πŸ‡¦πŸ‡ΊπŸ€β€οΈ

He's so damn good! Warriors fans will love him!

You're going to love him, Warriors fans! Alex Toohey is getting better and better every year, and he was already a gun! Makes intelligent, winning basketball plays, and will do whatever the team asks of him. Future cult hero incoming!

I think Beringer to the Wolves at 17 will end up the steal of the draft. He was the no.1 guy I wanted for the new (fast) Bulls, and I'm worried we took the WRONG tall French guy. The thought of Giddey pushing the break, w/ Buzelis & Beringer flying down both wings was 😍 The fit seemed perfect! 😭

He didn't look thrilled. 😬😬

I'm so happy about the landing spots for all four Aussies drafted today. Zikarsky, Proctor, and Toohey landed on playoff teams, and Olbrich joins fellow-Aussie Josh Giddey in Chicago. It's a good day to be an Aussie hoops nerd!

Yeah I'm the same. The human being story behind each player's journey to get the NBA is always fascinating, and usually pretty heart-warming. Some even more than others.

Will you announce the two-way, training camp, and Summer League deals when you hear of them?

Honestly though, this is all very tongue-in-cheek. I love your work, Keith! Just a gentle ribbing of my American brothers and sisters for twisting the English language, really. I'm Australian, so I'm in no position to tease anyone about word use! πŸ˜…πŸ˜…
comment in response to post
It might be in the American Mirriam-Webster dictionary... but English nerds like me will never recognise it! I refuse, and I'll die on this hill! πŸ˜…πŸ˜… If "aggressiveness" has become a word, what use is there for aggression? Next you'll tell me you're okay with the made-up sports word "winningest"?!
comment in response to post
The Cavs have already stated they plan on Proctor being on their roster this season. At this stage, it's hard to say with the others, but I'd expect them all to sign Two-Way contracts at least. That means they'll likely bounce between their teams' G-League affiliates and their NBA teams.
comment in response to post
Zikarsky, Proctor, and Toohey all went to very good teams - with the #Wolves, #Cavs, and #Warriors all expected to be Playoff teams next season. Olbrich joins fellow-Aussie Josh Giddey on a rising #Bulls team that finally has an identity and a clear direction with their new up-tempo playstyle. πŸ‡¦πŸ‡ΊπŸ€β€οΈ

Only in the NBA! American sports media love to make up words, often replacing real English words that already exist. Eg: "Aggressiveness" "Most Winningest" "Tenaciousness" "Sticktuitiveness" "Trustingness" Etc etc etc.
comment in response to post
Agreed! He fits a need in PHX. I love your writing, Keith... and I think you can "be the change" we need in the basketball world. "Aggressiveness" isn't a word. There's already a word for the act of being aggressive. That word is AGRESSION. "Love the aggressiveness"❌️ "Love the aggression"βœ…οΈ

πŸ˜…πŸ˜…πŸ˜… What about Giddey and Buzelis?

Wahhhh the Wolves just drafted Beringer. 😭😭😭

Nah, that's an INSANELY valuable 2026 pick!!! Betting on just ONE of the Bucks & Pelicans falling apart next year is a bet I'd be pretty excited about! The Bucks vets are a year older, AND Dame is out for 2025/26. The Pelicans are a mess AND added Jordan Poole. One of those teams could crater!
comment in response to post
Man I would love that. I just REALLY like Beringer's tools, and I think he's going to be the steal of the draft, especially now that he didn't go lottery. His fit with the Bulls' new fast-paced offense, combined with his length, bounce, & defense... is the stuff hoop dreams are made of. 😭😭

Yeah agreed!

I like Essengue too, I just LOVE Beringer, and his fit with the Bulls new up-tempo playstyle. Essengue wants to become a jumbo wing, rather than a big. The idea of Giddey pushing the break, with Buzelis & Beringer filling both lanes was wild. I hope Essengue gains confidence and kills it in CHI.
comment in response to post
I wanted Joan Beringer! I'm worried we're picking the wrong French big if we take Essengue!

I'm so nervous today, Andrew! I'm about to go into spinal surgery (here in Australia), so I'll have to watch Game 6 on replay once the anaesthetic wears off. I guess the "glass half-full" spin on it is: I can't hear spoilers while I'm unconscious. Thunder in 6 πŸ‡¦πŸ‡ΊπŸ€πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Man, Richard Jefferson is an elite-level shit-stirrer. πŸ˜…πŸ˜… He's so refreshingly funny. I love that he's a genuine weirdo, and I mean that in the best way possible. I have no idea what Perk is actually like, but if his true personality is anything like his on-camera persona, I'm all for trolling him.
comment in response to post
Good lord fellas. I managed to avoid spoilers all day... then watched Game 4 alone under my house (in Australia) at midnight, while nervously chugging champagne straight out of the bottle. I lost at least two weeks off my life. One week for each anxiously chugged bottle of wine. πŸ₯²πŸ₯² Worth it.

Ironically, the fact they've never fought on home soil (until now) means they are exclusively killing people in other countries. WHY?? I wonder if they've ever questioned HOW killing foreigners in other countries "protects Americans" from whatever they're told the imminent threat is?? πŸ€”πŸ€”

Only in America. The rest of the world has to wait until September!

Somehow, 12-14 free throws is the most surprising part of that monster statline. πŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺ

I agree with your thoughts on the other questions, though. All signs point to the Bulls re-signing Giddey. It will be interesting to see the numbers, either way!
comment in response to post
If I were the Raptors front office, I would absolutely prefer Giddey to Quickley, but I'm a biased Australian. I think a lot of non-Australians would trade Quickley for Giddey in a heartbeat, though. Quickley is a nice scorer, but he's never had a stretch like Giddey had since the All-Star break.

Damn that's nice!

I'm Australian, so can somebody please give me the context of what I'm watching here? Who are the people in uniform, and what were/are they doing?

The 386 was amazing at the time. I remember going to use the one phone for everyone in the house, and hearing dying bats fighting R2D2 screeching and beeping.... because someone was using the internet on the one computer (for everyone in the house).

Love it! I also love how angry casual fans are. SGA is such a good human being. He deserves this, and it's funny to see the backlash from fans of teams that can't stop him. I'm Australian, so I don't have home town bias. SGA drives relentlessly, and has surgical footwork.... so opponents foul him.

Yep. Combine measurments and drills are public on the NBA's YouTube channel. For all the "rigged" conspiracy theorists out there... the ping pong ball lottery draw is also freely available for all to watch. Adam Silver would NOT want to reward Nico/Mavs for bad-mouthing Luka publicly.

Now I want a photo of this guy to compare! The most common comparisons I get are Jon Hamm, Gerard Butler, John Krasinsky, Dylan McDermott.... and the most regularly of all is Bradley Cooper (when I don't have a beard). I must just have a very "familiar face" or a really "normal face." πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈπŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

I was two years old 40 years ago, so I promise it wasn't actually me. He does sound very handsome, intelligent, and charming, though. πŸ˜…πŸ˜…
comment in response to post
I believe it! I must have a very normal face, because strangers often tell me "You look like _____ celebrity," but it's different people they compare me to. Also, people often tell me "You look like my friend Dave." I never know what to say.... "Thanks?" or "Sorry for confusing you?"

Oh there's definitely pineapple and bacon here, too! Just like Americans, Aussies love creating food abominations that offend several cultures at once, too. The funniest one that comes to mind is an ad saying "Try our new Schnitzel Parmy Burger!" Offends Germans, Italians, AND Americans. 😭😭
comment in response to post
Haha I'm with ya. I'm an Atheist. I was just joking that Italians would be deeply offended by deep dish pizza. When I was in Italy, they are VERY traditional about pizza. Here in Australia, we have whacky mashups like tandoori chicken & prawns pizza. I didn't mention that to ANYONE in Italy. πŸ˜…πŸ˜…

Ant hasn't eliminated anyone. The Minnesota Timberwolves eliminated those teams. When I saw people saying "ANT ELIMINATES LEBRON," I thought to myself - "Well.... Ant just shat the bed shooting 5-19 for 15 points, so if we're playing the reductionist game, I'd say Rudy Gobert eliminated LeBron."

That's not true whatsoever. Just because he isn't jovial with asinine American media types, doesn't mean he's "miserable." Everyone who actually KNOWS Pop adores him.... and 100% of those people say he's the exact OPPOSITE of miserable.

Yeah that's fair, and you're right. I made the dumb joke off my initial reaction, before I looked into them. It's definitely not good to make jokes about people we don't know. I'm happy to admit I was in the wrong. They seem really wholesome and sweet.... so I'm sorry twins!
