As much as I kinda roll my eyes at these protests I also am reminded that I cut my teeth in an @occupywallstnyc.bsky.social demonstration/camp and I quickly humble myself. Those 50 days changed my life and opened my brain to another way of life that I previously didn't think possible.

Last week at distro I kept going in my car for extra gloves, extra pants, and my cache of extra matches whenever someone "wished" for it. I overheard one of the volunteers say "damn, what's she got in that magic car of hers?!" And I could not contain the absolute euphoria it gave me as a prepper.

I had to help a city laborer fill out a direct deposit form. It usually takes maybe 5mins but this dude took 20mins cause he needed extra help understanding pre notes and routing numbers were. At the end he was like "you're really good at explaining this shit!" and it made me feel good.
