Is it weird that I get excited about doing this soon?

The CBSC isn’t even responsible for the CBC. They’re the self-regulatory body for commercial broadcasters. The CBC has their own ombudsman for complaints…

The Canadian Broadcast Standards Council has been so overwhelmed by complaints about CBC #CrossCountryFuckUp with Ian Hanomansing, it has had to close the complaints process. @cbcradiocanada.bsky.social

The large tech firms want a world where they aren't bound by national (or multinational) rules around taxation, user privacy, hate speech, or intellectual property. Or anything else.

Reminder that everything Musk is doing is super-illegal (and unconstitutional) which is a problem because it is bad for all of US, but also because Musk/Trump cannot risk ever losing power.

Your regular reminder that the US air & water pollution laws passed in the 60s & 70s -- and the elaborate federal bureaucracy created to administer them -- constitute one of the most successful gov't interventions in history. WILDLY successful. The envy of the world.

Please read my latest reflection. There are lies we tell to comfort ourselves. Like Democrats who say we just have to wait two year and Trump will lose control of the House. Like those in Germany who promoted Hitler while believing they could control him. charlieangus.substack.com/p/the-reichs...

Trudeau invites Zelensky to friendly pick-your-brain coffee chat about being invaded by warmongering neighbour

Kevin O'Leary to @ianhanomansing.bsky.social on Cross Country Checkup, rough quote: "The Canadian dollar has dropped 40% against the US dollar under Trudeau." Fact check: the CAD has dropped 34% from the 2011 peak, but just 4% of that drop happened under Trudeau. The big drop happened under Harper.

Journalism prof here. That show was shallow, professional malpractice, @ianhanomansing.bsky.social @brodiefenlon.bsky.social @listentothemiddle.bsky.social. You MUST learn to do Trump era journalism (I can send readings/arrange tutoring) or quit. Pls reflect, apologize, repair what you’ve done.

Doug Ford needs to cancel Ontario’s contract with Starlink now. Absolutely solidarity with Ukraine but also to avoid it being used as a bargaining chip by Musk and Trump against Canada. Right now, Premier Ford.

Look how much better @petermansbridge.bsky.social is at this, still: #cbc

Should women have the vote? Tune in next week as Cross Country Checkup invites a bunch a men on the show to discuss.

Yes Elmo is awful but we probably can’t take away citizenship and probably shouldn’t be able to revoke it on a whim. But we should maybe have a conversation about what responsibilities a “citizen” has to Canada. And yes we can (and maybe should) charge him with Treason, too.

A good day for a reminder that independent media needs your support

For absolutely no reason whatsoever we watched “The Sound of Music” with the kids last night. Nazis bad, Anschluss bad, riding bikes good. Not sure why we have to say this in the year 2025.

Once, when I was in middle school, I wondered why there was so much in the curriculum about Nazis. I knew that history was important, but I didn’t think being able to identify a Nazi was going to be an important life skill. This was neither the first nor last time I was wrong about the future.

A fact I think that Canadians need to wrestle with is this: Is Canadian sovereignty up for debate is a question that is firmly closed for the vast majority of Canadians and firmly open for the vast majority of our institutional leaders.

You are here (circled in blue) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nazi_Pa...

"Threats of annexation which break international law" isn't an issue with a legitimate middle position. You're either an extremist, and support international aggression, or you're a normal person. No other option. Frame the issue appropriately. Don't give Kevin O'Leary airspace to propagandize.

Annexation is against international law - there is no both sides of the issue. Are we now going to both sides the breaking of other laws? Like ‘What do you think of beating women? Home invasion? Murder?’ @ianhanomansing.bsky.social #CanadaSky www.lawnow.org/annexation-a...

Should we turn Czechoslovakia over to the Germans? We've set up a call-in on Czechoslovakian public radio which is open to Germans to talk about the pros and cons.

Ever ask yourself why so many climate scientists are also cyclists?
