This whole thing with lawmakers not knowing what's in the bills they vote for feels like the legislative equivalent of vibe coding. They just think the bill generally does what they said they want, and ship it without really understanding how it works.

Leaning into the anti-intellectual, anti-science, anti-expert rhetoric has been a huge advantage for the GOP in cases like this. Having a deep knowledge of what's in a bill would make them seem too much like the "political establishment" they're always railing against.
