Very relatable, as that was my experience for a chunk of my life; however in my case I feel like getting rid of (to an extent) of my own insecurities helped me very much - at least in situations where people simply didn't "vibe" with me, I didn't feel the pressure to get into their good graces

This is so difficult, especially if based in a small, provincial college where there's virtually no existing "net" of academics with similar interests. I wanted to pursue American literary studies and even tho I've had a chance to attend conferences etc., the actual networking was mostly fruitless
