No, just one little shit from South Africa.

What I saw of the video made it look fairly impressive, yes. Also, something something something methane fuel lighting farts something. (It wasn’t just s’mores and cookie sales in the Girl Scouts, you know.)

On the plus side, it’s much easier to collect all the pieces.

In Herbert’s novel “Dune”, the emperor was named Shaddam, and he was called the “Padishah Emperor”. In National Lampoon’s parody “Doon”, they called him the “Padedbrah Emperor”. Coincidence? Or a deep and obscure Hebrew pun? (Likely coincidence. They also changed his first name to “Shaddap”…)

One wonders if this show will end in a way similar to either of the other two seasons.

Please quantify “many”. While it’s anecdotal, I have some reason to believe that most Americans are agonizingly aware of the rancidness (good word) of the empowered.

Persecution complex FTW. I say we give him a taste of what real persecution is like, and throw him to the lions.

For bulk transport over land, rail makes the most sense.

Battery tech may be fine in the long term, but we have a twofold difficulty there: Sourcing the chemistries, and dealing with the disposal thereof. Plus, of course, the electicity to charge them, and while we're gradually lurching away from polluting energy sources, it's still not solved either.
comment in response to post
More than an expanding number of trucks, and a "solution" (autonomous vehicles) that is at least a decade away from being reliably deployed, yes. What's your solution?
comment in response to post
Emphatically agreed on the passenger rail. ATSF owns many (most? all?) of the lines, and freight takes priority, but there’s still not enough connection between the two coasts.
comment in response to post
I’ll disagree there. Most transcontinental rail is just two lines (one east, the other west) and doesn’t have anywhere near the freight volume capacity of interstates.
comment in response to post
So would a robust and well-maintained rail system. It’d also get those massive vehicles off the road. And improve transportation efficiency. But hey, sure, let’s double down instead.

Considering what “AI” scripting produces for visual art — and for writing — I’m not sure why any actual content creator, artist, or writer would want to be even remotely associated with it. Those scripts consistently put out nothing but swill. “I tell a machine to generate crap and am proud of it!”

Saw that. I’m referring to the bottles the occasionals (such as ibuprofen) usually come in.
comment in response to post
Flip the bottle. When it’s right side up, put it back upside down. Next dose, flip it right side up again. You’ll know at a glance if you’ve had a dose or not. Trick for me is to remember to flip the bottle, of course…

You'll be reading along, as one does, and come across a sentence like the above that almost slips by you in the general flow of the narrative, and you realize you've just seen something brilliant. All of his books have these jewels in them. Every single one. www.simonandschuster.com/books/The-In...

It’s the same sort of thinking that brings us “The Secret”: the idea that we think ourselves into our circumstances and attract what we expect/deserve, thereby absolving anyone of any need to feel empathy or try to help. I can’t quite decide if it’s Randian, libertarian, or their bastard lovechild.

Thank you! It felt like just the right balance of telling more with less.

Absolutely everything the Heads did from "Fear of Music" onward was 🔥. And the "Stop Making Sense" film made me regret living in a podunk that nothing (like concerts) ever happened in.
