Hearing RFK Jr.’s ignorant take on autism, I am reminded of the remains of an early hominid child found in Spain. The child lived 500 thousand years ago and was born with a congenital cranial deformity that would have made some aspects of life more difficult. /1

This is the Republican way, after all. I saw it constantly when protestors came in for abortions, getting the very same service they wanted to outlaw.

My mother was an abusive narcissist. She was also really good at solving problems she created.

One more way in which the US is now diminished: “In the race to save lives after the Myanmar quake, US rescuers are notable by their absence”

We spend so much more on corporate welfare than on the welfare we spend on human beings. Like, stratospherically more. If you want to root out "waste, fraud and abuse", start there.

I’m up early (for me) at the dentist office and I’ve just heard a country song that I swear had the chorus, “Heeeeeey, Hammurabi.” Is that a thing?

Texas on the cutting edge, testing the waters for making it illegal to BE trans. But sure us coming down hard on Gavin Newsom is a purity test.

People want to compare our situation to 1939 Germany, bc it lets us think, We won! We beat the bad guys! This more accurate comparison is terrifying to us, bc 25 years later, Russia is still in the thrall of Putin.

Relevant to a lot of what’s happening right now.

This remake of Red Dawn is very different.

Well this is right on the nose.

That’s how you know the asteroid is a Democrat. So disappointing.

I find that I still can’t get over this. Imagine going on television to clarify that absolutely no country should ever enter a nuclear disarmament deal with the US, because afterwards we will not protect you. Instead we’ll try to shake you down for natural resources & hand you over to an aggressor.

I predicted a second Trump term could destroy the Democratic party. I guess I didn't fully understand how eager the Dems were for that destruction.

As I was reading this, I kept thinking about two things: 1. How many people detained in this situation don’t have the privileges a German tourist does & how bad are things for them? 2. How much profit is in one person’s one month detention for CoreCivic?
