I've already resigned myself to not flying until the government is run by grownups again. Which sucks, because I really want to take a trip out west for my 40th birthday this year. Driving takes so much longer. Friends I'd backpack with live in UT, but I'd need to drive there from OH solo. Ugh.

Spineless cowards.

I hope America is as lucky as the delta jet - everyone survives but the right wing explodes

I'm conflicted because my Kindle isn't that old (2020), and I absolutely hate buying things I don't need, but I also don't want to keep giving Amazon $ when I buy e-books. I'm considering a Kobo, and I guess the Kindle will still be kind of useful for re-reading what's already on it. #booksky

The sickness of this is almost unfathomable. Like, if I ever hit a level of wealth where I no longer need to work, I could fill multiple life times with all of the enriching things I want to do! I would spend so much time playing with dogs, exploring nature, reading, playing games with friends, etc.

Trump's lawyers are absolutely flailing in the courts right now

This is why you fight these cowards. The moment you stand up to them, they crumble. Homan has nothing. The Fourth Amendment is clear and I am well within my duties to educate people of their rights. He can threaten me with jail and call names all he wants. He’s got nothing else.

Put the Willow series back on D+ ffs.

“The thing that I can’t get over is that the actual richest man in the world directed my fucking firing. I make $50k a year and work to keep drinking water safe. The richest man in the world decided that was an expense too great for the American taxpayer.”

I finished listening to this episode tonight, and this lens definitely needs to be discussed more widely. I can't help but think about how many men consider the Rogue One hallway scene to be peak Vader. Idolizing all the wrong things, and completely missing the point in the process.

A huge decision from Judge Amir Ali, meticulously reasoned and utterly scathing, finding that Trump’s foreign aid freeze is almost certainly an illegal and arbitrary abuse of power. He orders the immediate restoration of all international assistance. s3.documentcloud.org/documents/25...

Scoop: The databases powering DOGE.gov are insecure, and people outside the government have already pushed their own updates to the site to prove it: www.404media.co/anyone-can-p...

Trying to cut out single use plastic is as difficult as trying to cut out fossil fuels - no matter how hard you try, the stuff has seeped really, really deep into the basic structures of food and transport As this great piece lays out, govt's have to actively kill this terrible cycle:

98% of NIH grants that should have gone out this month, didn't. Despite court orders 'unfreezing' the funds, they are frozen. Biomedical research will grind to a halt. Clinical trials will end. All for no reason: the total impact on the US budget is miniscule

Years ago when Musk wasn't in the spotlight I just assumed he must be smart. But now that he loudly spouts whatever nonsense thoughts he has, with the gaze of millions turned his way, the veil is lifted. Nobody "deserves" to be a billionaire, but how THIS idiot lucked into it...boggles the mind.

Once again, I am here from Poland to tell you that predicating your response to a rule of law crisis on fear of how your opponents will frame your resistance is as ineffectual as it is solipsistic.

Rubio looks like he only just realized he's 53 and could easily spend decades in jail for the crimes Trump wants to commit

Fucking #Google has gone downhill so badly these last few years. Self-sabotaging search results with laughably bad AI, now Google Maps doesn’t even know the correct name of a major geographic feature.

Yes. “People are doing things. You will meet them when YOU start doing things.” Lots of information and resources in this one. open.substack.com/pub/sherrily...

Vance is pushing idea that Trump is a king with unchecked power, not even accountable to courts and the rulings of judges. This is setting up the Trump administration to break with court rulings, creating a constitutional crisis and pushing the US into full blown dictatorship.

Wired continues to have the best reporting on the DOGE situation. Cautiously optimistic about this news.

Received a letter from POTUS today purporting to remove me as Commissioner and Chair of the FEC. There's a legal way to replace FEC commissioners-this isn't it. I've been so fortunate to serve the American people and stir up some good trouble along the way. That's not changing anytime soon.

We @propublica.org are tracking who is working with Elon Musk and what they are doing. We have 20+ names so far including some that haven't yet been reported. Help us investigate and send us tips 🔎: www.propublica.org/tips/federal... projects.propublica.org/elon-musk-do...

Following a White House anti-DEI order, the National Cryptologic Museum covered up exhibits of women and people of color in its Hall of Honor. The NSA reversed course after former employees mobilized.

Good post here about right-wing trolling and our reactions to it. It is far too easy to bait us; to spin us around in circles.

Embarrassing.

this is the sort of thing people like aaron and myself see all the time and we understand the msm is sanewashing him, as the great @parkermolloy.com noted, when they clean all this up and present him like he's a normal boy. for example, look at the ap report and compare it to the absolute shit

I just started watching #KimsConvenience on Netflix. It's funny, it has the guy who plays Carson Teva in Star Wars, and it's a welcome distraction from everything going on in the world. It's also a Canadian show about an immigrant family, so watching it feels like a small act of resistance.

A teen DOGE staffer recently given access to government systems worked at a startup known for hiring convicted hackers. Someone using a Telegram handle associated with him also solicited a cyberattack-for-hire service in 2022. All raising questions about his vetting. www.wired.com/story/edward...

They are lying. They don't have to comply with EOs. EOs are not laws. They are simply removing the mask because they've been given permission from the bigot in chief

It’s time to organize: “The internet has conditioned us to constantly seek new information, as if becoming a sponge of bad news will eventually yield the final piece of a puzzle. But there is also such a thing as having enough information.” www.404media.co/you-cant-pos...

DOGE employees ordered to stop using Slack while agency transitions to a records system not subject to FOIA 🔗 www.404media.co/doge-employe...

Like, they’re clearly emphasizing speed very, very heavily. Don’t let them have it!

I can. In fact, the Canadian version is so great, I can't think of an American equivalent. 🧵
