Happy Mother’s Day to wounded sons The idea of a "mother wound" helped me to come to terms with my mother. If you're a wounded son, maybe it will help you, too. #MothersDay2025 #MothersDay youtu.be/Kayy5hHt5pU

It's a fantastic book - download it - buy it - or just borrow it and read it. The Dust Bowl Triolgy are worth the effort.

On green hydrogen "...market conditions have worsened, prompting a reallocation of resources to other business segments with more predictable value."🔌💡 oilprice.com/Company-News...

Just in time to be up and running for the Municipal Election, in October. No tools to investigate financial irregularities in the new party system, at the municipal level. Seems right on brand for the GoA, seeking to centralize political control.

I am thrilled to announce that I am running for re-election for Edmonton City Council to represent the incredible people of #WardMétis, and all Edmontonians. I love this city, and I’m ready to continue building a sustainable, equitable, and prosperous Edmonton for everyone. ashleysalvador.com

Air pollution from fossil fuels causes at least 15% of deaths in the U.S., also heart disease, strokes, dementia, preterm birth, low birth weight, asthma and COPD. It reduces crop yields and work productivity, and damages GDP. There are lots of reasons to use clean energy, including health.

Foreign trade zones like this -- where stuff has been debarked in America, but not yet subject to tariffs -- is where a lot of stuff will be stored as they wait for the trade war to work out. This place will be filled to bursting by the time tariffs are figured out. #EconSky

Saudis show they are serious. www.bloomberg.com/news/article... They aren't targeting US producers primarily; Kazakhstan is a bad actor that pumps way more oil than agreed, shipping it through Russia. Western oil companies are the operators in Kazakhstan; it's complicated. #EconSky

Fossil triumphalism is just bad math We just put out a short critique of the recent Yergin piece on the 'troubled energy transition'. He fails to understand what is happening outside the fossil fuel system and beyond the US. electrotechrevolution.substack.com/p/the-troubl...

FYI, @markhamhislop.bsky.social #disruption is on! Respectfully, Mr. Kashnamoorti's 15-25 year projection, seems more Oil&Gas misinformation, than astute analysis. bsky.app/profile/mark....

Maurice also said, Bennett was pursuing the puck outside the crease. How then coach Paul did Bennett's forearm elbow come in contact with Solarz's head?

Where did a quarter of US electricity come from in April? Yes really, just wind and solar.. (April is always highest share from wind and solar, because of good sun and wind, and low elec demand from from heating/cooling)

Astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson talks about NASA's budget

For the first time, fossil fuels provided less than half of U.S. electricity generation for a full month (March 2025). One more milestone in the energy transition. oilprice.com/Energy/Energ... #Upshift

It's been a month since Canada's federal consumer carbon price was eliminated. With the latest data from this morning, the effect on gasoline prices remains clear: nearly the full value of tax cut was passed to consumers. #cdnecon

#ProudBlue #ResistanceUnited Good morning, friends! Wanted to share this breaking news with you all and hopefully give you something to smile about! Have a great day!

I had a productive call with Ursula von der Leyen this morning. We’re ready to build on our free trade relationship, bolster economic security, and work side-by-side on shared defence and security challenges. When Canada and the European Union build together, our futures are stronger.

Being able to identify hoaxes, avoid scams & debunk propaganda is a civic skill required in today's information society. That's why curriculum of students in Finland includes media literacy lessons, aimed at safeguarding a precious resource: the truth.

I think a lot about what Carl Sagan said in one of his final interviews.

Don’t forget those who insisted that actions needed to avoid the #ClimateCrisis were “too expensive.”
Don’t forget all the record-breaking, historic or “100 year” events we’ve seen lately.
They’re not the “new normal.
It’s going to keep getting exponentially worse.
Don’t forget Valencia, Spain.

One of the most frustrating parts of the Power Broker is Moses failing to realize that more bridges and freeways, or more lanes on them, increased traffic rather than alleviating it. One of the reasons I think the book is essential is we still refuse to learn that for some reason.

I do not understand why we don't use tech that is readily and cheaply available to monitor traffic and travel in the city. Watch how people move for answers to traffic flow. edmonton.taproot.news/briefs...

Final question on Your Province. Your Premier. Was whether the UCP would ban coal mining in the eastern slopes. Smith said "we have to build things" and we need metallurgical coal to do it. #ABleg #ABpoli

The Canadian federal election, on Monday, which culminated in the Liberal Party’s retention of the Prime Ministership, was won by defying Trumpism. “It was a close election, but, for once, an uncomplicated result with real meaning,” Adam Gopnik writes.

Hydrogen has specific uses and fuel isn't one that can make money. Gas companies, though, can make money building pipelines to move gas to make hydrogen. Follow the Hydrogen Ladder. via @mliebreich.bsky.socialr Clean(er)fertilizer can be made. it isn't in #Alberta. There's a market for it!

Energy Superpower 🤔 the problem with the climate change crowd is they siloed climate change instead of appropriating into an intersection with clean(er) energy systems and technology. Canada is an energy superpower about fifth on the world in oil and gas and top twenty in clean(er) energy.

Temperatures and the demand for air conditioning are rising. Recent testing by the Global Cooling Efficiency Accelerator in India finds that super-efficient ACs use 60% less energy than typical AC units while enhancing occupant comfort. bit.ly/3GzNkOr

Reminder that Hockey Canada's reserve fund used in part to settle sexual misconduct cases was called the "National Equity Fund." And that it needed the fund because it received one or two reports of assault *per year* in the fiveish years before the federal inquiry.

Fascinating that two of the countries in North America are now led by Mark Carney, the Co-Chair of the Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero, and Claudia Sheinbaum, an energy engineering PhD and IPCC contributor. That’s some climate experts in some powerful places.

Today, an avowed separatist leader from Quebec called for Canadian unity. Meanwhile, an avowed federalist from Alberta went out of her way to make it easier to launch a sovereignty referendum in her province. Power's a hell of a drug.
