I appreciate you doing the work and then reporting it back!

That pains me to watch oof why

And if you need another incentive, just know that if we raise this money, we WILL be making merch of me flipping off a transphobe: bsky.app/profile/katm...

I get that, just remember though that neutrality definitely helps those in power more then it helps those not in power inherently I appreciate your outspokenness

On one hand, not a great move for an ally if that’s something you want to be. In the other hand, that’s fair. Knowing if you have the spoons or not is important. It’s a bit privileged but so am I (in different ways) I think the time of assuming the best of folks/neutral is irreparably over for me

also I wonder which lists are “malicious” exactly?
comment in response to post
They might not think of themselves as transphobic. Plenty of bigots don’t think they are bigots. In fact, outside of the rare bigots that are super proud of it, I think most bigots will be like “I am not a bigot” None of this changes a thing about them actually being a bigot See also: Jerks

My take: unless it’s followed up by “sorry my bad” or “crap I can’t even check because they already blocked me my bad” or just plain “my bad” then it’s almost certainly intentional

YMMV obviously, not all ASD folks (or trans folks) think all that similarly and there’s a mountain of assumptions in my reply etc, only so much you can put in a reply, grain of salt and all that, but if it leads to me somehow helping someone be a better ally I’ll be happy about that

It is genuinely tough. Like some of the first trans folks I encountered on BS were transmedicalists*. It’s hard to tell the jerks from the not jerks when you don’t know the culture. So instead I tried to actively study the cultures more instead of individuals. *stillframe (jerkous gatekeepus)

I used to be a lot more like you. I don’t want to say “I got better” because that sounds insulting af, and everyone has their own perspective of better, but I do think the autistic Neutrality default can actually be actively harmful and I’m trying me best to not fall back into that
comment in response to post
I mean, there’s a lot of things I’d like to think, for example, everything since November has been a nightmare and we’re all just collectively dreaming, but sadly experience is telling me otherwise
comment in response to post
Thanks for mentioning this honestly, I didn’t know this
comment in response to post
I learned something new! I legit didn’t know it was required on both ends, thanks for pointing that out

I would love to live in a world where I could cut folks that much slack. I do not. In my experience a really rare instance where trans folks just up an assume folks are being actively malicious when they aren’t. It does happen! It has happened to me! I still think it is statistically insignificant

Ps my kid really likes trains and I appreciate them too, so I’m trying my best to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume like me you might be a bit autistic I’m also used to these conversations ending with pivot/shifting into full transphobia etc though

It’s literally a tag you can see it without clicking the profile Again mistakes happen but this looked pretty intentional and some of us are used to seeing exactly what that intentional looks like Why so many hoops to defend these folks if you don’t mind me asking?
comment in response to post
You can find the screen shots in the first the posts after you click eirs profile and scroll down a bit past the one pinned post for some more context

In addition, you have a tag so your pronouns show without checking the bio. I get that accidents happen. I’ve made them too. But sometimes it is obviously not an accident if it continues to happen.

Thank you for making lists of these jerks

what really twists the knife for me is that the Trump administration has openly declared war on cities and immigrants, but when New Yorkers choose an inspiring immigrant in their mayoral primary, various DEMOCRATS come out of the woodwork to tell insane racist lies about him

And yet, half of the folks in charge argue against math and science all the time. It’s almost as if you can argue with mathematics. And that the arguing itself is part of the process. Or you know, just sit there and talk about some rando you met who’s been married 5 times as to why you won’t do 💩
comment in response to post
They lead with talking about someone who’s been married 5 times as inherently actually wiser about women as their big lead in He could have just skipped it,since it had no real relevance, but I feel like it was important for him to show everyone how Yikes he is WTF

The fuckery from The Company is my favorite theme from the series and I think a lot of what was missing from many of the sequels. Aliens has it though and that’s part of what makes it so good.

I’m deeply unobservant sometimes and I’m honestly glad I never caught this. (Or maybe mind wiped myself) I thought the other thing the article mentioned, where he is potentially trying to emulate the alien he so loves is a more interesting take and I wish Scott had leaned into that more instead
comment in response to post
Scott believes Ash is sexually attracted to Ripley but lacks any physical capabilities to do anything about it or the emotional capacity to understand it. The magazine is a phallic symbol in this attack, with the android essentially trying to commit oral r^%*.”
comment in response to post
From a screen rant article where I have no idea of accuracy “There's also a more disturbing reason, which Ridley Scott has stated in several interviews and commentaries for Alien. In Scott's mind, Alien's Ash might be an android but he has to process complex emotions he doesn't always understand.

I love this scene of Dallas asking Mother for ideas about how to kill the alien. Mother is answering so conservatively; it doesn’t have sufficient data for an answer. Could you imagine if Mother were powered by ChatGPT? The computer would be giving confident wrong answers left and right
comment in response to post
At a guess, pg-13 wasn’t out back then and studios spent money probably to try to get it a lower rating. Surprised it didn’t cause more of a stir. Also, I’m guessing a lead woman protagonist helped Alien land the R rating. Nothing like undermining norms to get something an R.

To end this thread, all I am going to say is white moderate cognitive dissonance is so powerful It will have them destroy any semblance of democracy to remain important in their own mind.

“All three liberals descent” is the tag line that infuriates me. That human bag of filth McConnell gaming the system to hold off on appointments and then later rush them through was the moment I truly understood it’s not about principle with these people and they don’t believe any of it.
comment in response to post
The ones that might be losing their non-profit status? Or the ones that threw trans people under the bus? Honestly the answer is no, because unless I worked in that industry, I don’t think most folks could be aware of All the work they do. I love of non-profits that help.

I would like to think he wasn’t. But I also an (ex) friend who should know better who voted for him and so did all his coworkers. “I’m supposed to be middle class” was the explanation I got. Along with not minding all the other shit the best I got was “well I don’t agree with everything he says” 💩

But, I genuinely and truly hope I am wrong and that you are right. I think something like 90% of Trump voters felt we weren’t helping Israel enough. I think they might really like the fascism and view it as a feature and not a bug. Hope I’m wrong. Truly.

You have a lot more faith in us collectively than I do. I think the straight and white among us are bootlickers to the core or he wouldn’t have been elected to begin with. And they still haven’t figured out how badly we treat bipoc and trans folks or they approve, so I don’t think it will be quick
