They might not think of themselves as transphobic. Plenty of bigots don’t think they are bigots. In fact, outside of the rare bigots that are super proud of it, I think most bigots will be like “I am not a bigot”
None of this changes a thing about them actually being a bigot

It is genuinely tough. Like some of the first trans folks I encountered on BS were transmedicalists*. It’s hard to tell the jerks from the not jerks when you don’t know the culture. So instead I tried to actively study the cultures more instead of individuals.

I would love to live in a world where I could cut folks that much slack. I do not. In my experience a really rare instance where trans folks just up an assume folks are being actively malicious when they aren’t. It does happen! It has happened to me! I still think it is statistically insignificant
