Nosferatu was excellent! Very pretty, very spooky. A lot of writhing. Maximum Drama. I can only imagine how insufferable I would've been if it had come out when I was a teenager/young adult.

Gonna try using this again. Finished The Lost Village and really enjoyed it. Eerie and atmospheric. It's about a creepy abandoned village but it's also a lot about women and mental illness, which is a heavy topic that easily can become exploitative in this genre but it's done fairly well.

I'm reading the anthology Dark Stars right now, and I just finished Livia Llewellyn's "Volcano." It's horror, but it didn't scare me, it made me feel this weird, nostalgic longing. I guess if you absolutely mutilated the definition of the genre, you could call it "dark academia"? It's good, anyway.

Tonight's film: Deadstream (2022). It was genuinely pretty funny and the Evil Dead influence was a nostalgic treat. The messages about internet fame and "cancel culture" were somehow both unsubtle and muddled, but it was a worthy entry in the growing collection of Idiots vs. the Paranormal films.
