Current read. Upstate New York millennial academia cosmic horror? It's real weird so far. I'm enjoying it.

Why was this my first thought #werwulf #roberteggers #mst3k

when you're so sleepy you become completely flat and it's not even flat fuck friday yet #cat

Nosferatu was excellent! Very pretty, very spooky. A lot of writhing. Maximum Drama. I can only imagine how insufferable I would've been if it had come out when I was a teenager/young adult.

pay trans writers. publish trans writers. read trans writers.

if nothing else, I can watch Nosferatu tonight. life in this country is a waking nightmare but by god I'm gonna see bill skarsgard's fake vampire dong

The point of the firehose of Executive Orders is to disorient and to demobilize. It's to instill maximum fear. If we know this, then that's already half the battle. This means that we have to respond with focus on those most vulnerable & targets. It means we have to refuse their attempt to scare us.

So...the gender Executive Order is out. I am going to do a little thread as a trans person who thinks about law/gender a lot. tl;dr Take care of yourself, this sucks (but we've seen it already), we can learn from others, choose an action. www.whitehouse.gov/presidential...

Reminder: The Crypt Keeper released his own Christmas album back in 1994. Tracks included "Should Old Cadavers Be Forgot" and "We Wish You'd Bury the Misses."

another day making control 2. everyone keeps asking me if they can kiss ahti. buddy, they won't even let ME kiss him.

If i was the richest guy in the world i would just do stuff like give the decemberists 100 million dollars to write a concept album about the hardy boys

The sentient blanket creature pictured here was a very good and brave boy at the vet today

Age yourself with your first computer! The Speak & Spell sound effects live in my head forever, but I'll go with this one. Played a lot of Hangman on this bad boy.

Some tips for people new to Bluesky: -every time we write "skeet," the cosmic behemoth slumbering in in the moon is satiated for another moment and the apocalypse is averted for a bit longer -the pretzels are for everyone -if you find yourself in the room without windows or doors, play the pan flute

✧ last book you read: The Lost Village, Camilla Sten ✧ your current read: The Night House, Jo Nesbo ✧ last book added to tbr: The God of the Woods, Liz Moore ✧ next anticipated read: Horror Movie, Paul Tremblay #booksky 💙📚

When people ask me who my influences are

I was looking up croque-en-bouche and CROQUE AMBUSH

spineless transphobes & their gross comments have inspired me to once again share this very cool project we announced last week ghoulish.rip/now-consider...

I refuse to join Bluesky — I don't want to become part of an Ecco chamber

Gonna try using this again. Finished The Lost Village and really enjoyed it. Eerie and atmospheric. It's about a creepy abandoned village but it's also a lot about women and mental illness, which is a heavy topic that easily can become exploitative in this genre but it's done fairly well.

I just sneezed and for a second sincerely expected Cecil to say "bless you." I need to get out more. Or get a cat with better manners.

Episode 4 of House of Usher has no business being as simultaneously funny and horrifying as it is. Gonna just... let Cecil get away with jumping on the counters for a little while. Just in case.

Putting the horror movie viewing on hold to start Fall of the House of Usher tonight. Fuck me up, Flanagan.

Your beloved has brought you a plate of eels. This is good news! Right? RIGHT? Well...in premodern England eel was a common enough meal that it sometimes got used to disguise poison. What's that, you ask? Is it it time for a thread about murder-by-eels? Yes. Yes it is. 1/5 🗃️🧪

Thoughts on this ended up coalescing enough to the point where I’m now actively searching for more movies in the same “desolate, uncanny Americana horror” vein - obvious answers below, but suggestions also welcome here: boxd.it/pKv4w

I'm reading the anthology Dark Stars right now, and I just finished Livia Llewellyn's "Volcano." It's horror, but it didn't scare me, it made me feel this weird, nostalgic longing. I guess if you absolutely mutilated the definition of the genre, you could call it "dark academia"? It's good, anyway.

Given that I'm not even sure which ones I've seen and which ones I haven't aside from the original and Jason X (hard to forget that), which Friday the 13th film should I watch tonight? (Oh, I think I've seen the one where he's possessing people, too?)

It's cool, Cecil. No need to move. I don't need my left arm for anything anyway and your entire zonked-out weight resting directly on my wrist definitely isn't heavy at all.

Had subscription that I wanted to cancel. Clicked on "cancel membership." Page it takes me to tells me all about the benefits of membership and only provides one option-- to keep the membership. I had to delete my account entirely to get around it. This world we live in makes me very tired.

I didn't know this existed. Now I do, and am forever changed.

trying to figure out how to tell the algorithm I'm not buying child locks because I have children, I'm buying child locks because my cat is an idiot

Tonight's film: Deadstream (2022). It was genuinely pretty funny and the Evil Dead influence was a nostalgic treat. The messages about internet fame and "cancel culture" were somehow both unsubtle and muddled, but it was a worthy entry in the growing collection of Idiots vs. the Paranormal films.

Google has an interesting definition of "comedies"

Okay as much as I love that we're all talking about mental health and trauma more, I sort of miss when I could play a horror game and expect "spooky skeletons jumping out at you" and not "time to face your unprocessed issues from that toxic codependent relationship you were in years ago"

As someone who never really used Twitter and is just now trying to stagger into the modern world, this site is forcing me to reckon with how FUCKING LONG-WINDED I am

Lovely little surprise in the mail today-- a nostalgic scented wax melt from Leftover Pizza Podcast! It smells like every cool October night I spent watching Garfield's Halloween Adventure with a bowl of popcorn and a mug of cider and at least a tiny scrap of hope for the future. I miss those days.

Good news: he's not in the bathroom cabinets. Bad news: he's snoring and I can't move. 🙄
