My earliest MKE media memories are of reading McNally (and Dave Berkman) in the Shepherd and thinking it seemed like a fun gig. An effortlessly talented and entertaining writer. Met him once and was kinda starstruck. RIP.

Solid lineup at Landmark these days

The pinnacle of early-'00s trash. I'm 99% sure one of the episodes was shot in my current apartment building.

Me preparing my notes for a 4-minute radio interview about that boat

"Dad. You were never dying." "... But I'm gonna live!"

The time has come to set up a dedicated email address for tips about music videos, DJ sets, and comedy sketches filmed at the Milwaukee Boat.

Still on the Boat beat. It has an anchor now, created by a Milwaukee painter and muralist.

Breakfast bagel and coffee from Hen’s Deli. That is all.

As W. C. Fields would say, I'd rather be here than Philadelphia.

Listening to Brewers spring training. The absence of Uecker in the “Brewers Radio Network” commercial bumpers is particularly gutting. Even when he wasn’t calling a game he was present in those bumpers. Not anymore.

Incredible. And remember: If you talk about Milwaukee history without the express written consent of John Gurda he'll sneak into your house at night and break your kneecaps.

The premise of the Kathy Bates MATLOCK reboot is weirder than I imagined. (I thought she was the original Matlock’s niece or something.)

TREMORS!

Ryan Seacrest: “So it says here you like snakes?” Guy who likes snakes:

Who needs a new Wes Anderson film when we have the Milwaukee Public Museum at home (for now)

You’re playing a dangerous game, Sid Grinker.

As a 29-year East Side resident, I'm calling the race for District 3 Alderperson for myself.

PICKED UP CULVER’S AND VOTED

Nestled in this article is a tease about a live/virtual event Milwaukee Record is cooking up for our annual Cinema Hooligante sponsorship. REALLY excited about this one.

That's the stuff.

"Running for alderman" is definitely a Type of Guy

Watching a development meeting and here come the "I support responsible development, but..." folks! (The "but" is always "I live across the street and something something traffic something something parking.")

I know, I know: "THE REAL FUEL CLOSED IN 2020." But yeah, Fuel had been a thing since 1993. Weird that it's now completely gone.

A BUSY week/weekend. And a chance to vote! Again!

“Okay, time to crank up the ol’ 78 player.” Reminder that Dewey Gill’s Big Band Program on @wmse917fm.bsky.social is mandatory Sunday morning listening.

An instant Milwaukee (and beyond) classic.

Why yes we’re doing a meatLESS raffle

Stuff I will see: DEVO (!), Japanese Breakfast, Def Leppard, CAKE, NilexNile, Buffalo Nichols, Billy Corgan, Julien Baker, Megan Thee Stallion, Phantom Planet, MJ Lenderman, The Ike Reilly Assassination, Bully, Fountains Of Wayne

I put together a lil' voting guide to next week's primary

Big day tomorrow: organizing the Summerfest lineup into a format that can be read and understood by human beings. Practicing typing "Rick Springfield" and "Def Leppard with special guest Tesla" all day today.

Excited to read this and discuss it with Christine, March 20 at Boswell Book Company! www.eventbrite.com/e/christine-...

Caleb's weekly fish fry column = BACK

Spring Training: yay! This year's radio broadcasts: sigh.

Ok

BRING IT BACK

Today on Milwaukee Record: an original song (by Tyler) about the Milwaukee Boat; Mitten Fest photos (with Joe Pera cameo); what's coming to AmFam Field in 2025; a Summerfest announcement; new MKE music; your weekly guide to shows and events. Phew.

Just tuned into the Pro Bowl and it’s flag football in street clothes and some of the guys on the sidelines are playing cards. Love it.
