I deactivated a few days after the election. I was going to do that to keep my account, but I ultimately decided not to. I also deactivated my threads account, I never got any engagement there anyways

Seat belts belong in the protecting others category as well, because if there are multiple people in the car during a wreck someone not buckled in can insure others by flying into them, since they are unsecured. One of the reasons I make anyone riding with me buckle up

The vast majority of firings were probationary employees, which means those newly hired and those that recently moved agencies or were promoted. It does not have anything to do with performance, and the only reason they targeted probationary employees is because they are easier to fire

Well, right now he's needlessly firing thousands up on thousands of government workers, including 5% of the national parks service. Many government agencies will have a hard time functioning after this. He also just called himself a king. We don't have kings in America, we fought a war over that.

The sky was very grey today. A light grey, but very grey

I have no qualms about taking a billionaires money. Rn I'm rocking the canon rebel T7 with a sigma 150-600mm and a Canon 18-55mm. If/when I switch to mirrorless, I'll probably end up switching brands to either Sony or Nikon, but I'm poor so that may be a while

Musk needs to donate a Nikon Z8 to me. Or a Sony alpha A7 IV, I'll take either

I stayed up until sunrise that night, and the last substorm around 3:30 am threw off some brilliant and tall pillars that seemed to tower over us. It was amazing. I'm all the way down in central Illinois btw

Yes, they generally appear mostly grey, sometimes with hints of red and/or green, but in major events such as the one in May 10th/11th last year (when that photo was taken) sometimes the other colors become visible as well. I could see purples and blues

The early morning substorm on May 11th was a whole different beast though. Giant, towering pillars dancing across the sky, with easily visible reds, purples, and even blues showing in the upper atmosphere. Breathtaking experience

It can vary pretty wildly. Orange Aurora isn't a real color showing up like the red or green or purple, it's actually the red and green overlapping, making it appear orange
I've seen the northern lights numerous times now, and usually it looks mostly gray, with some red and green

That was just with my cheap old 75-300mm, which is why the image quality is mediocre

A lot of us Democrats are not very happy with our representatives, they need to learn to grow a fucking spine. The Republicans in charge are a much more pressing issue though

I've done some, but my lens only goes down to f6.3 so I need some decent light at least. It doesn't need to be completely sunny for me to go out

Just an FYI, I don't know what you use for editing, but there's a tool on Lightroom to remove color fringing
That purple showing up on the left side of the bird is called color fringing, it's a type of chromatic aberration. My old zoom lens was bad about that

Gulls are hard. Iirc immature Herring gulls also have the black mark on their bills, and Herring gulls are more barrel chested as well. This one looks a bit too chunky to be a ring billed imo, but I'm not confident in that

Yep. They're mean little fuckers, but they know how to pose for the camera
