That's a good point, and also I grew up in a no old-money state. It's different out East, and in the South.
Posh Europe taken to an extreme of course is Kings 'n Queens, titles, the friggin' House of Lords, etc.

I find that upper-class individuals are normal, nice people [as much as anyone else], but have an unappealing, exclusionary culture as a group.
For example - golf courses. This is a public good where I'm from. [Not that I'd go, but that's beside the point].
