Figuring out cause of my long COVID. Was one who got COVID in Dec 2019. I never got pneumonia, but was never so sick in my life. Reactivated VZV & lots of neuro sx. No one knew what I had. Bought oximeter on Jan 2, 2020, the day WHO was discussing it internally. Still it outside the attn of news.

Elon Musk isn’t a genius—he’s a government-funded grifter under investigation. Every contract, every dollar, every scandal—it all connects. Keep this: It’s a roadmap for every move Musk and DOGE make.

Any psychologist or psychiatrist (or former abused spouse) will tell you that President Zelensky gave a master class today on how to deal with a malignant narcissist. He is an amazing man. We can all learn from him.

How US science agencies could fare amid future budget cuts and Trump team push for huge government layoffs: “NSF as we know it could cease to exist” NIH scientist: “they want to send us back to the Dark Ages by stopping science in its tracks completely”. @nature.com www.nature.com/articles/d41...

'He’s made it clear that in his role as head of NIH, he intends to deny NIH research funding to schools he judges to be too woke.'

For the past 5 years, immature UCSF professors spread misinformation and insulted those who tried to correct it. Until just now, when the consequences affected them for the first time. My latest for SBM. sciencebasedmedicine.org/ucsfapathy/

Whoa. This is awful. I think Zelensky is right that we will feel the repercussions of Trump's actions. Vance and Trump are appeasers of Putin. If anyone had any doubt before, it's clear now. Threatening WWIII is bizarre. www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddo...

who told this pampered asshole he has the right to speak to anyone like this?

I very much rely on NIH's NCBI site where I find medical journal papers. I have been trying to hack my long COVID symptoms for the last 5 years because doctors haven't been much help. They don't seem motivated, though I think researchers are. Without NCBI I would not have gotten this far.

I wasn't very adept with blue sky the last time I came here and so I didn't spend much time here. (Long COVID symptoms also inhibit posting at times.) But now that I am getting the hang of this, I think I will come here more frequently and if it turns out I like it better, I will abandon Facebook.

You all should read this book to understand the diverse nexus of right wing players and funders that are actively committed to undoing our democracy for sake of power, money and ideology.

Here's an in-depth look at Mump's ongoing sabotage of NIH. Through actions that have now reached the point of defying court orders, grants aren't being given. This threatens all biomedical research. 99% of drugs developed in the U.S. are funded by NIH. www.theatlantic.com/health/archi...

Of the 4000 researchers at NIH, only 20% are tenured. They’re going to fire all the rest as their contracts come up for renewal, absolutely decimating research at the NIH. This is catastrophic, not just for Americans, but for the whole world. www.science.org/content/arti...

My husband, as a disabled person, is a Medicaid recipient. The number on the left is how much his upcoming surgery (which he needs to BREATHE NORMALLY) would cost w/o Medicaid. The number on the right is what it’s costing us. The end of Medicaid would kill disabled folks.

In four years, Zuckerberg has gone from running a platform that allowed election denial to proliferate to embracing a song sung by the people who fell for that election denial and stormed the Capitol.

You cannot imagine how happy this makes me. www.thelondoneconomic.com/news/media/e...

Trying to remember just what the deal was with Trump, Kash Patel, and Devin Nunes back in 2016. I remember a plane trip and a weird vibe about the story. Anyone else think it is weird that the potential future head of the FBI wrote a children's book of this nature?

This timeline is so cool and then you get to the bottom and it's "Eek". xkcd.com/1732/

Dealing with a long COVID new symptom at the moment, so probably no posts for a little while.
