Right now the working limits is 60 seconds, <50MB, and the streamed resolution from the CDN to start will be two options, 360p@500kbps and 720p@1500kbps. Videos will get framerates downsampled to 30fps.
"Original" versions which get stored on the PDS will be 3mbps, 1080p, 30fps.

Large videos will be compressed on-device before upload if you're on mobile to make sure they fit within the limits and reduce bandwidth used to upload video. All videos will get encoded server-side anyhow but this lets us shrink high-res phone videos and such to lower mobile BW usage.

If you're a content creator and know how to get your video down under 50MB with solid bitrate, you can do that yourself and upload on desktop for the least number of encoding passes. Should retain quality better than if you upload from mobile.

Also if you want the best quality possible, do the encoding yourself and encode to a <3mbps bitrate at a slow encoding speed (better quality, longer time to encode) so our encoding passes have very little work to do on our end.
