Yes! It happens, especially to junior faculty, women, and minorities, because they are perceived as friendlier or more approachable. So important to protect your time 💓

Right there with you 😅. The thing that has helped me most is to set expectations. For ex: as minor member, I will only read the dissertation when it is complete. Or, as minor member, I will only read a chapter after your advisor has read it and you have implemented their suggestions.
