There should be a word for this; you see the same with anti-immigration immigrants and closeted homophobes. They don’t like the reminder that they’re not who they say they are.

I got blocked by an Apple fanboi last week for saying that Apple’s announcements have gone steadily downhill since the Steve Jobs days. Sweet vindication…

I remember people calling out at the time, that their bluster about Biden cheating in 2020 was never seriously intended to overturn the election, but was a way to fatigue everyone over election rigging stories, and to trick their opponents into loudly insisting that elections can’t be rigged.

A billion is such an unspendably large amount of money that you could quietly seize 90% of a billionaire’s wealth, and as long as you rigged their apps to tell them they still owned it, they could go their whole life never noticing it was gone.

Roberts vastly overestimating how much people outside the US care about US college sports. Like, by a factor of infinity.

It used to have a really good giant medal game in a smoky basement near the station but it closed down a few years ago. Even the Cannon Ball pool hall closed too.

For real. I don’t think anyone believes they’ll go through with it, but the fact that it’s on the table at all over something so thoroughly petty, shows how messed up the whole arrangement is. There’s no grown-ups left in the room.

But the nuance of the idiom “thorn in the side” is it describes something that’s an ongoing problem you’re living with. Whereas a thorn in your eye would be so high priority that you’d need to get it out before you did anything else.

Christ, even I’d heard about that section before the vote and I’m not even a member of Congress.

Woke’s messaging problem is failing to account for the large population of ostensibly privileged people, who have no reason to feel privileged.
For all our well-meaning efforts, we’re letting culture war distract from class war, to the ultimate detriment of both.

If all is going well it’s easy to be charitable.
But if life didn’t turn out the way you hoped, you’re in debt and a low status job, I can see it being easy to resent being told by a bunch of urban professionals that you’re Privileged and should step aside. 1/

Every single post the Doctor Who Facebook account ever has made since Facebook began, has a comment section full of miserable sods complaining that they’ve ruined it. Like who the hell are these people and what are they trying to achieve
