Can be useful if you're in an endgame, you have big pieces and you don't want to run out of time calculating where to put your king to not lose to a king/rook fork.

The alternating colours trick is great. Another trick: If your opponent is checking you over and over again with their knight, move to a diagonal with one square in between you and them and now they'll have to move 3 times if they want to check you again.

Freeze it then thaw it out and press it. You end up with tofu that has more air pockets so it marinates faster and more thoroughly.
