"US auto industry criticizes Donald Trump's UK trade deal" thehill.com/business/529... "it will now be cheaper to import a UK vehicle with very little U.S. content than a USMCA compliant vehicle from Mexico or Canada that is half American parts"

Braid: Former UCP minister Peter Guthrie says separatism campaign could severely damage economy

I'm often asked: What motivates Danielle Smith to do the radical things she does? After all, many of her actions fly in the face of public opinion, the constitution, conservative ideology, and her own public commitments. I used to equivocate. I'm about ready to call it.🧵

I'm not saying the UCP's 2026 referendums were planned and predictable. Actually, yes, I am.

Danielle, mission accomplished!!! Russian state media rejoices your secessionism and weakening of Canada. You make Putin proud.🇷🇺 #ableg #cdnpoli www.rt.com/news/616869-...

Peter Krékó, quoted here, has been doing great work.

Enten: This is down 21%. They really don't like the tariffs. And we know they really don't like the tariffs because Canadian summer air bookings to places in Canada actually up actually up 6%.

So far this week, 5 major US news outlets have contacted me for interviews on Alberta separatism. In an already volatile climate, the attention is not good for investment in this province.

Liberal Prime Minister Mark Carney was born in the NWT and raised in Edmonton. He launched his leadership bid in Alberta. Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre was born and raised in Calgary. He’s a U of C grad. NDP interim leader Don Davies was born and raised in Edmonton. He’s a U of A grad.

“I don’t want to call it a blockade but… they were stopping people and I held up our Nexus cards and the U.S. customs agent waved us through but as I passed, because our windows are down, he said, ‘Let’s stop and check the next one’,” one traveller said. globalnews.ca/news/1116461...

The Premier is addressing Albertans live at 3pm on Monday to discuss the future of Alberta in Confederation. Nothing that I saw or heard today suggests a groundswell of angst among Albertans. Neither do polls. If she speaks of a crisis on Monday, it's likely imagined or manufactured.

When an anti-science troll is the boss… this👇 Kennedy Orders Search for New Measles Treatments Instead of Urging Vaccination www.nytimes.com/2025/05/02/h... “…studies show the M.M.R. shot is 97 percent effective in preventing the disease”

Nazi Germany surrendered in May 1945. For Americans, the Second World War would rage for three more months, until VJ Day in August. But for Russians and those influenced by them, "Victory Day" falls in May. Trump follows the Russian practice, not the American.

In the last few days, the president fell asleep at the pope’s funeral, said he wasn’t making decisions in the White House and fell for an obvious photoshop. Cool. Cool cool cool.

One. Car. He. Cost. Americans. One. Car.

So to recap - randos on the X claimed to "decode" the tattoos (that multiple experts on MS-13 have said had nothing to do with MS-13), someone at the White House took that idea and crudely put "MS-13" on the image, and Trump actually believed that was what the tattoo said. 🤦‍♂️

I had to upload the clip here because it's frankly insane. Possibly the most insane trump clip yet. His brain is pudding

Today, an avowed separatist leader from Quebec called for Canadian unity. Meanwhile, an avowed federalist from Alberta went out of her way to make it easier to launch a sovereignty referendum in her province. Power's a hell of a drug.

I'm going to say it again: the reason CECOT exists, the reason it looks like that, the reason every prisoner is walked in like Hannibal Lecter surrounded by 100 armed men, is because the entire thing is fascist theater - men tortured on camera to feed jeering crowds of bloodthirsty bigots

Please highlight this story. ICE stormed into the wrong house, trashed the place, and made women/girls stand outside in the rain in their underwear. ICE also stole phones, laptops, and cash savings from the family, who moved to OKC two weeks ago. kfor.com/news/local/w...

And now, a note on Bill Owens who, until this past week, was the executive producer of 60 Minutes. We’ll be back next week with another edition of 60 Minutes.

WAPO: “.. ocean-container bookings from China to the U.S. are down by more than 60 percent .. “.. The consequence will be ‘empty shelves in U.S. stores in a few weeks and covid-like shortages for consumers ..’” @davidjlynch.bsky.social @jeffstein.bsky.social www.washingtonpost.com/business/202...

After not adhering to the dress code, sitting in a reserved area, rage-tweeting, lying about tariffs (and lots of other things), it’s time for a well-deserved nap at the Pope’s funeral.

“The test conversations found that both Meta’s official AI helper, called Meta AI, and a vast array of user-created chatbots will engage in and sometimes escalate discussions that are decidedly sexual—even when the users are underage or the bots are programmed to simulate the personas of minors.”

Set a new record today. 11 mins from when I entered the Park2Go lot until I was completely through security and US customs. Never seen it this quite. That's including a shuttle bus from Park2Go to the airport. 😁
