When diagnosing the lead-up to this era of U.S. history: I hope historians highlight the elimination of the Fairness Doctrine in the late 80s/early 90s. As with many things, our media’s effectiveness didn’t fall apart by happenstance. It was engineered as a part of the Repub. long game.
