Yep. And *we* need to do wayyyy more Black history (and culture) instruction and preservation in our homes, churches and communities. It needs to become constant. They are clearly intent on purging Black history from all aspects of “their” society.

We gotta be okay with leaving certain types of people on the other side. Everyone ain’t worth conversion. We shouldn’t aimlessly want loser men unless they’re getting delivered first

The medium-term goal here, which most of these people openly admit if you ask them, is the repeal of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, which restores their ability to segregate by race, bar black people from businesses, and racially discriminate.

One of the best songs of that era. We used to have music debates all the time in school. And when Dru Hill vs 112 (or Jagged Edge) came up… 5 Steps was my big Joker. Won the debate for me every time.

That stomp/clap is imbued with the power of Jesus and resilience of the ancestors. We better quit playing and tap in!

This. And dust them deacons off to restart old school devotion, too.

I can’t come up with a theory on why this is? He wasn’t this bad on deep throws in college. Coaching? Mental hurdles?

“Two warring camps” is so interesting to me. It highlights the real issue: Many lower class, straight whites want their specific intersectional cohort to be centered *at the expense of* any discourse that is intentionally inclusive of marginalized communities. THAT’s the (unstated) “war”.

This is why they are melting down about the social ostracization some of them are experiencing. People, and particularly painful to them: (liberal) *white* people are de-centering them and moving on.

I think about this a lot. I don’t have a solid theory, but I’d bet it’s a mix of establishment complacency, fears of being seen as “too extreme”, and some of the -isms that can subtly prevent logical decisions from being made.

Someone on TikTok suggested The Guardian. I downloaded the app and pretty much only read headlines and the more “factual” articles so I can stay on top of the facts. It’s worked well for me & my limits on what I can handle while staying sane. No US based media outlets and no opinion articles.

He backed out of the AG nomination. Apparently, there was a second allegation (or maybe a second occurrence with the same 17 yr old, I’m not sure). I’m also trying to consume the bare minimum. I’m only reading text based news (no tv).

They intend to take us back to pre-New Deal America. Basically no regulations/reg agencies. Only the rich get a great education. Child labor allowed. No federal protections for minorities, LGBTQ+, etc 😔

This is the exact point I’ve told ppl in my circle. If they are successful in doing what they’ve said they’ll do…. We are more likely to be equivalent to the Reconstruction era of resistance, which required a different focus (literal survival) and different methods than the Civil Rights era.

It’s really good! Shanola Hampton has an electric presence on screen. She stole so many scenes in Shameless
