We have Iridium (& an EPIRB). Fortunately haven’t had to use either yet, but we travel regularly through very remote areas so it’s an essential. Looked at Starlink but can’t come at paying Elon any $$$.

Not sure if you’re still in the Bad Place. Rainfall data around the Ville this weekend -it’s a bit damp.

Watching from afar (but with a vested interest as our TVL house is in the ‘pink zone’!!). Hopefully it settles down soon - stay safe & dry!

Stay safe & hope all is under control soon

Ours got hypothermia from the Botany Bay water sports day.

Well it’s not air conditioned as far as I can tell, so quite possibly

Well, I’ve just boarded my first work flight for the year and there’s been a terrible mistake. I’m on Virgin. In 19F!!!

They do have an onsite hospital

Well we could, except you keep posting about it …

Surely a seasoned traveller would know these things?

The more things changed - this was AJ2016 at Cataract. AJ2019 at the Bend, by contrast, was a stinking hot dust bowl. It’s character building.

Very sorry to see this - sending you all the hugs.

Ignore them.

I promised $50 if all named items returned home. Accounting for inflation, that’s probably $100 now. It worked.

I am reminded of a Xmas trip in the Defender. Aircon goes around Armidale. Fixed at Tenterfield ($500). Died again at Tenterfield half an hour later. Remainder of trip home to TVL spent nursing large golden retriever in 40+ heat. 🥵🥵🥵

I know I don’t have to say this but - keep an eye on the weather. Highway closed around Prossy.

Possibly good you aren’t in Vanuatu right now, Cat.

One of our dogs swears at us if we have the audacity to accidentally touch him when he’s lying on our bed. This is the same dog who will happily paw me in the face the minute I’m awake, for a belly rub. (Not the dog in my profile photo)

Orange, 1972(?). Drove overnight & slept in car to see Madge, Phillip and Anne. The Duke walks along our side of road, reaches over to shake someone’s hand & my brother yells ‘He trod on my foot!!’. Phil the Greek, oblivious. Story enters the family canon. @ridetoworkpol.bsky.social can confirm.

I’m sure I’ve told you the story of Prince Phillip standing on my brother’s foot?

The best live show I’ve ever seen was The Pogues. Also Hordern Pavilion. 1987-ish.
comment in response to post
I saw them at the Hordern Pavilion in 1984. Absolutely fantastic.

Speak to your committee. We had a bursary system to provide grants where appropriate, maybe they do too? But yes, the Jamboree fees are ⬆️. We had one going to AJ & the other to World Jamboree within a couple of months of each other.

Also - does your state have school sports vouchers? In some jurisdictions you can use them for Scouts fees
comment in response to post
As former President of group committee, Secretary, wife of cub leader/group leader and general whip for many years across 2 jurisdictions, I can say EVERY single parent who helps is appreciated so much. The fees are mostly insurance (which doesn’t reduce them). So thank you thank you thank you!!!

Washing machines are known liars. Mine routinely fibs about having 2 minutes left of a cycle.
