Yup. I think my kid was moderately more successful in college apps than equivalent peers is bc he wrote all his essays w no AI. I helped him brainstorm and tighten up to the prompt, but his voice was there for sure.
I fear that robot review of essays written by robots is pretty much here.

"norms can sometimes do what law won't"- so true and so powerful to remember. This was the bat signal I needed to send an e-mail to my department and the faculty senate objecting to CSU's legit horrifying push to integrate a ChatGPT-EDU into our courses and lives. No thank you.

And reflective of what we face in the classroom. If we are not caretaking enough- we get raked in evals.
Striking the balance between demanding rigor (perceived as criticism) and empathic care is tricky- and the tax on this is more demands from students than our male colleagues.
