Gonna keep it real with you, I don't know what your larger point here is, especially in relation to my original post. Feel free to elaborate though I'm all ears.

Marx talked a lot about the tendency of the rate of profit to fall which leads to finding new areas to extract value from. This means both on the production end via worker pay, minimizing safety expenses, etc. and on the consumer end via planned obsolescence, no right to repair, subscriptions, etc

But also China doing any economic development without political intervention is doing imperialism still. So they need to intervene but they're not allowed to intervene peacefully, they gotta go to war dude. Fuck yeah I love me some military intervention, we need more dead people and proxy wars.

They just want to delete all capitalists and start from scratch, burn it all down and start doing active interventions to support militant socialists in global south countries like the USSR did and then promptly lose all legitimacy on the global stage in the dumbest 1v200 matchup ever

The whole idea of "correctness" is silly of course, it's not a question of correctness but of what class interests are served. Their argument would be that China is run by capitalists similarly to America because they're in the party. The idea of controlling capitalists is anti-socialist to them

This person also said that China might even be correct in what they're doing, but that it isn't socialism. So, like, you're just admitting you don't believe socialism to be inherently correct? You're willing to die on the hill for an "ideal" socialism that isn't inherently correct? Some fucking ideal

When you start saying Richard Wolff, Rhadika Desai, Michael Hudson, and Ben Norton are all paid shills for China and are all fringe voices in the field of Marxist political economy you really gotta rethink your life choices because whatever economists you're listening to aren't Marxists.

I appreciate it, there's been a lot of good advice and discussion in this thread, much more than I was expecting tbh, so I've got a lot to look into which has definitely been helpful.
