Among the changes the jail is expected to make are: Ensuring that jail staff doesn't use excessive force against incarcerated people Implementing a comprehensive housekeeping and pest control program Making adequate special education services more readily accessible to children with disabilities

Pending a judge’s approval, the consent decree gives an independent monitor the power to assess and report on the jail’s progress toward implementing the solutions agreed upon by the county and the DOJ.
