Racism is stupid. It harms the hater along with the hated. FDR Dem, gentle density architecture, nature art, matriarchies, why dogs aren't racist. I tend to follow smaller real-people accounts (Header painting by Erin Hanson)

Autism is also substantially (certainly not entirely) hereditary. That it persists, has persisted for millennia, says something important: It must be adapative, beneficial in some way, to individuals and/or to the whole. Ponder on that.

I unironically think that there is immense propaganda value in flooding social media with stuff like this. Just co-opt all the dumb GOP insults and drench them in patriotic symbolism. Bonus points for connecting current struggles to easily digestible ones like "slavery & fascism is bad."

If you regularly take #PublicTransportation, you will have an unofficial community, whether you want to or not.

I was alive and an adult during the Contract With America which some of us called the Contract On America. It was a gimmick but it worked. House Dems could create something similar: Be super clear about what would happen if there are elections and they win back the House starting DAY ONE.

Trump wants to be a mob boss. They are his role models.

REMINDER: Social Security has a fraud rate of 0.00625%, which is far lower than private sector retirement programs.

I guess I'm a woman now because I do or have done all those things? 🤷🏼‍♂️

Great story. I’m glad the century-old manual train routing system in New York City’s amazing subway system is being replaced—slowly, surely, very expensively—by a computerized 21st century system. But OTOH these vintage switching machines totally trigger my Wes Andersonian 20th century nostalgia.

Here’s a roundtable in the New York Times hosted by Josh Barro on tariffs, markets, and the economy featuring me and uhh Lael Brainard (!): www.nytimes.com/2025/04/20/o...

Insiders including Meta' Mark Zuckerberg, Oracle's Safra Catz and JPMorgan's Jamie Dimon cashed out shares worth billions of dollars before President Donald Trump’s tariff announcements roiled markets

This is an enormous theft—not just privatizing a government function with a worse and more expensive for-profit substitute, but also a massive government financial data heist—and on the other side of it everyone needs to end up broke and imprisoned to deter them and others from doing it again.

Where does Judas go to get his apology By Marc Theissen

Gives me the shivers. 250 years to the day after, the church bells ringing the alarm at Lexington, calling for defenders in what became the battle that began the American Revolution, Same bell.

Poorly photoshopped tattoo pictures. Fake margaritas added to a photo op. A demand letter accidentally sent to Harvard. Nonsensical tariff stats and formulas. We’re losing our democracy to the dumbest mother fuckers ever.

What if, to increase social buy-in, once a year we dropped everyone in the country off in a random city blindfolded and made them have to find their way home again?

Sign of the day…

This is really really bad

I need everyone to stop and admire this Louisvillian's extravagant commitment to tulips.

Angel of the Lord: He is not here, He is risen, just as He said. Come and see the place where He lay. And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead. Alito: Okay, first of all, this violates ALL sorts of rules Thomas: This was a LAWFUL execution, who is God to interfere

What Trump is up to on Truth Social. Polling a right-wing social media platform on whether he should simply ignore the courts and continue shipping human beings to foreign prisons. Definitely a healthy and normal thing for a constitutional republic.

What happens if the courts can't stop the Trump Administration? “Then we’ve got to take to the streets in a different way,” Anthony Romero, the executive director of the A.C.L.U., tells David Remnick. “We've got to shut down this country.”

As long as we’re doing French Revolution takes, let’s all remember that Mark Twain’s is undefeated:

We all need to dedicate the rest of our lives to destroying the republican party

The Target thing is so funny. They had hooked pretty much every Black person I know, and then they threw it all away to make the confederate flag crowd happy just so they could not shop there too.

Well, it took 200 years but France has apologized for forcing #Haitians to pay reparations to their enslavers for the crime of freeing themselves. 🇭🇹🇭🇹 Will they actually pay the money back? I’m not holding my breath! 🗃️ www.nbcnews.com/news/world/f...
