We gotta translate that line into Trump speak for when the even more farcical version of Trump occurs

Yeah if Marbury v. Madison swallows the entire constitution it seems like that's an argument against Marbury v. Madison, not the constitution.

You gonna say that at the funeral when I have to bury yet another friend?

I think there's something to it. And this gets weirder when different generations of queers are in community together, having grown up with different levels of acceptance, and therefore different methods of signaling queerness to each other, with differing subtlety.

Don't forget Jupiter is also sending a storm as a bad omen for the tyrant's parade. We're rome-maxxing now.

That's it, we need to put an end to the "violence isn't the answer" rhetoric that lead to this extremism!

"ICE undone by lack of housing in California" is the kind of extremely stupid outcome we deserve tbh

Yeah with Taash I got a real "people would rather write an entire video game subplot than accept the fact their parents don't love them" vibe. It felt so targeted for a cis audience, so eager to "represent" trans people as Good, that it was extremely boring to anyone who knows trans people.

For about two hours after the latest cotton op ed I was back to thinking the Times is better than the WSJ but wow did they show me

Buddy if you're not going to arrest the president for violating the posse comitatus law you're the one supporting the violence

What I'm hearing is that we should call for the Dems to have a Sister Souljah moment... for Bill Clinton!

That's dialectics, baby! 😎

Reducing "compromise for a specific goal is good" to "compromise is good" feels like another example of cargo cult politics tbh.

It's because Tom Cruise's entire body of work is about the message "Tom Cruise should die on camera."

Look qanon proves that right wing voters believe a pedophile cabal runs the government. Popularism demands we acknowledge this fact and run on the pedocon theory!!!!

More generally there's some weird assumption that voters don't...talk to each other? Or love each other? Like on the other side of the aisle, I've noticed Republicans and libertarians in higher class work environments don't understand I might know and care about people hurt by Medicaid cuts.
comment in response to post
I mean I'd be constantly asking every Republican if they support her statements here, or if they agree she should resign! Make them disown her!

I had a grocery clerk tell me my sunglasses looked like they were from "that old movie." He probably delivered the sickest burn on me I've ever heard and didn't even realize it.

no no you have to understand. it's not the drug's fault, it's the drug user's fault. gotta stigmatize drug users to avoid stigmatizing drugs! 🙃
comment in response to post
Even from a pro-drug position, taking MDMA to be more effective at work - especially when that work is murdering people - is disrespectful to MDMA. Take it to go dance, make out, and fall in love with people like God intended!!
comment in response to post
Yeah I know tons of people who did - there's often years of "my parents abused me, I basically raised them, they support politicians who are killing me and my loved ones, and I get nothing from the relationship. But they're *family* so I'm going to make it work!" And then the parents take more.

I mean. If it gets him to stop sabotaging the government and only sabotage Tesla, it *would* still improve Tesla's situation!
comment in response to post
I suspect a lot of current dem officials got this way because they're so often held responsible for Republican actions, and thus have internalized the idea they *can* control Republicans, if they'd just be civil/nice/smart enough. It's rotted this entire generation of leaders.
comment in response to post
It's uh. A rumor spawned by the odd wording in this article: www.wired.com/story/katie-... Also, since we're here, there's also the theory Chris Rufo has been to kinky sex clubs or parties. And that Elon was kicked out of the bay area babyfur community. Really, there's no end to the horrors.

It's very much a bay area thing of the most insufferable "couple opening up" type of poly: www.amazon.com/Love-Abundan...
comment in response to post
Between this and the Stephen Miller/Elon Musk polycule I'm beginning to think letting the straights have polyamory was a mistake, they cannot be trusted with such things.

comment in response to post
Yeah that's... basically the exact mistake I made, which is why I'm wondering if a different strategy would have been better now 🤷
comment in response to post
But I should add that the protest movement here isn't really organized in a way that allows any strategy, so this is all kind of moot.
comment in response to post
Yeah I'm not sure it'd be more effective, but "provoke Republicans into horrific violence against protesters, so that Democrats negatively polarize against Bibi" is a valid strategy, especially since what actually happened was "help elect Bibi's preferred candidate to punish his 2nd choice."
comment in response to post
I mean it's normal politics, but it's also based on the idea protests are meant to persuade the target to join you, which seems iffy. It's not like civil rights protests in the South were there because the South was their closest allies. Sometimes provoking an overreaction is good!
comment in response to post
If he thinks that's a vice, he should be a monk, not a Senator. What the fuck is he doing in politics?
comment in response to post
There's a critique of rule of law that says it's all power. But I'm pretty sure following rule of law - so that there's clear and reliable orders - is a prerequisite for power because it's needed to make the threats and promises necessary to build a coalition. So we need to control rule of law 🤷
