It is the feast day of George Herbert. In lieu of the Benedictus, I said this poem of his at morning prayer. A meditation on prayer, sure, but surely also a song of praise.

Possibly because "inefficiencies in governmental spending" is an excuse for tearing down anything that protects civil rights.
