My Duolingo lesson this morning was a tad worrying.

It is finally time for me to catch up with modern times and stop printing out everything. I may need an extra screen. I am not feeling good about this, but on the plus side I hopefully will have less crap on my desk?

Campaigners have won a crucial ruling, overturning the UK Government's support for Rosebank oil field. It would cause emissions equal to the 28 lowest income countries combined! Renewable energy is the safest, cheapest and greenest available. It's where our future must lie.

BREAKING 🚨 : over 400,000 signatures and counting, calling on UK Gov to STOP new oil drilling and SPEED UP a just transition to cheaper cleaner energy.

Very disappointing indeed. Our public transport systems are expensive and not fit for purpose. This is a public utility, it shouldn't be up to private companies to provide the 'service'.

some ways to generate electricity A) use sunlight to drive photosynthesis in plants, let plants die, wait ~100 million years, dig up fossilized plants, burn plants, use heat to boil water, use steam to drive a rotating turbine, use generator to make electrons B) use sunlight to make electrons

Israel has killed over 100 Palestinians since the Gaza ceasefire was announced. ICC arrest warrants for Netanyahu are still live. War crimes must not go unpunished. We must see: 🚫 an end to genocide ✅ unimpeded humanitarian aid ⚖️ justice & accountability 🏩 reconstruction!

So here in Glasgow, the Shettleston Tory Councillor has defected to Reform. I think it should be voters in the East End who get to decide if they have a Reform Councillor, not Thomas Kerr.

Parliament has just agreed to increase the tax paid when buying second/holiday homes, helping first-time buyers and raising £30m for public services. This was a @scottishgreens.org budget proposal and I'm pleased that it passed overwhelmingly 💚

🔴 $150 billion and 11 deaths: the cost of the current Los Angeles wildfire 🔴 €10 billion and 232 deaths: the cost of October's flooding in Spain 🔴 $78 billion and 219 deaths: the cost of October's Hurricane Helene The cost of climate inaction is incalculable.

Having spent years campaigning for overdose prevention rooms like these, I’m so pleased & relieved that first legal drug consumption room is opening in Glasgow to save lives, reduce risk & engage hardest to reach drug users with support for wider healthcare etc. I hope rest of UK will follow suit

This is an interesting piece. I agree with him on the reasons why we need independence, but am leery of calling what sounds a lot like Scottish Green policy populist.

The French version of the Cass review. Make yourself aware of it and tell everyone. It even goes as far as to say that Cass is wrong. www.lgbtqnation.com/2024/12/new-...

Happy New Year! Last night I saw in the New Year outside a friend's house with lots of hugs. Perfect. 25 years ago I did the same. Different friend's house though. I'm super lucky to have marvellous friends.

Happy New Year! 💚🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

No excuse for empty homes.❌️ Over 43,000 houses sit empty in Scotland, whilst many struggle to find a home. Scottish Greens are demanding action to bring all empty homes back into use.

📣Make your voice heard: Dundee Council is consulting on budget cuts, with a potential £800k to be lost for third sector organisations. ⚠️Shape the consultation & support local services at the link in thread. Closes December 29th.

Congratulations to the Scottish Greens for becoming a Gold Standard 4-day week employer!🥳🥳 It’s important to be the change we want to see in the world, and that’s exactly what they’re doing by introducing a 4-day week into their offices. For people. For planet. Four-day week! 🌍

THIS is my Sentiment

☀️📚 You’re never too old or young for a trip to the library 😀🧡📚#belsize #community #library #books #loveyourlibrary #bookworm #london 📚☀️

@ohgodwhatnow.bsky.social topping my podcast chart this year. Probs because it comes out so often but it's still a smashing podcast. As are all in the lineup IMHO, but I would say that wouldn't I!

Nigel Farage is one MP. Giving him and his hateful ideas too much attention is what he lives for. Obviously abortion is healthcare and it's ridiculous to even have the controls on it we do now, but I'm annoyed with myself for rising to his bait!

Sexism is bad for everyone! In Seattle, the reason Universal Basic Income was shelved in the 70s was because it apparently gave women financial independence. Men didn’t like that! It’s almost like Universal Basic Income is a good thing - better health & education outcomes, and more!

Violence & abuse against women & girls is seen by too many as normal. From our schools to our workplaces, we must address misogyny & sexism! #16Days www.thenational.scot/news/2476069...

Well done to Fiona. Scottish Greens seem to be increasing our vote share all across Scotland. Looking forward to more Green MSPs.

This bill - and the rent controls & tenant protections it contains - was brought to Parliament by the Scottish Greens. I was proud to vote for it at Stage One today. Green MSPs will now work to prevent it from being weakened by hostile amendments at Stage Two.

“Rent controls now!” That’s the strong message from renters outside the Scottish Parliament this evening. The right to housing should not be exploited! Homes are for living in, not for profiteering!

🥀Labour are out of touch with the working class; it's time for real progressive change. We need to tackle the root cause of poverty, and that can’t be done without action to close the wealth gap between the ultra-rich and Scottish workers.

One of my favourite things about the steep learning curve of part-loaning a horse for my daughter so far, has been the company of women; practical, sensibly dressed women, who laugh good naturedly at my incompetence and help me when I'm scared. I really appreciate them.

CLUBCARD PRICES ARE NORMAL PRICES how is this fuckery legal??

➡️Selling weapons to those committing genocide is complicity. 🇵🇸It's time for the UK Government to act, and end arms sales to Israel.

Loving the first frosts this morning, and getting to break out hat, scarf, and gloves.

I’ve made a starter pack for @scottishgreens.bsky.social women! Give these great activists and volunteers a follow, and drop me a message if you want to be added go.bsky.app/FxJfu9T

Good things right now: a bath, with fancy toiletries from a friend, and Vlad the duck 🛁 🫙 🦇 #3goodthings

What will it take for Keir Starmer to stop UK arms sales to Israel?
