I think for a number of years either the sheets were printed with all of the horizontal cards together or the pack-out process segregated the horizontal ones, because they would always appear in packs in groups together. But not this year from what I’ve seen.

One of my (many, many) projects this year is to go through the blogs and see who is still active and, if so, see if I can figure out what cards to send. Nick should be on the list!

I was watching it at a taproom with the sound off, so it took awhile for me to understand what was happening. It's more bizarre that they were the first group up, so they weren't trying to catch someone's impossibly great time. They just planned it from the start.

Some of the best examples of this are some rookies from 2021 sets who only got into a few games or a few innings (or less) because of the 2020 “season” and all that came with it.

Considering how often major card manufacturers have failed at the most basics levels of quality control, I am not optimistic about this being used effectively.

I don’t know enough about the card design and manufacturing process to think of many good use cases for AI, but I would assume that they’ve found some ways it can automate some repetitive tasks. This always needs to be complimented with a layer of human review/auditing, however.
