Jeffries: hey the GOP controls the government, absolutely nothing i can do, gonna work on my personal book tour Sanders: brb i am going to personally barnstorm strategic GOP house districts and try to peel off 2 votes so we can block Trump's cuts to Medicaid www.commondreams.org/news/bernie-...

Current status: crying into the meatball mix as I make dinner because “If I knew the way, I would take you home” hit me right in my wounded secret-hippie heart. youtu.be/QmMjY6tXaEo?...

Seattle #TeslaTakedown They closed the store.

week 2 protesting in front of Tesla Portland. We were over 100 today. Lots more waves and thumbs up. People going into the dealership did not look happy... @alexwinter.com #teslatakedown #teslatakeover @niedermeyer.online @teslatakedown.com @indivisible.org @coin-indivisible.bsky.social

I was set to launch my book at the Carter Library next month. This week, we were told all events now need approval from the National Archives. The next day, my event was forced to relocate. A book about the working homeless. A book about civil rights. Apparently these topics are now off limits.

My last federal jury venire in Pendleton, OR was an interesting mixture of cops (it’s a prison town), farm hands, teachers, and US Wildlife workers. Lots of fed funding out east!

I really needed these photos. What a day. What a week. What a cursed month. But look how beautiful the world is in spite of us…

They are telling us, out loud, exactly how the 2026/28 elections will not be free & fair. They will go after vote by mail (bsky.app/profile/mira...). They will go after computer voting. They will then say we can't count all the paper ballots because it's taking too long & there must be fraud. Etc.

Precisely this. Rising fascism, powered by billionaires, is a massive global problem that threatens us all. That new EU passport thanks to your Italian grandparent isn't going to protect you from that.

Oh fuck, what a grift. J6 terrorists sue a DOJ controlled by Trump; Trump orders DOJ lawyers to settle for an undisclosed amount, both sides agree to an NDA. This can happen dozens, hundreds of times. Just an ingenious way to funnel tax dollars to far-right terrorist groups.

. Trump wants control over the USPS to interfere with mail-in votes in the midterms. This is dangerous—tampering with the postal service threatens democracy. Be very clear: voter suppression isn’t strategy; it’s cheating. #FuckTrump #USPS

My god the damage that the myth of Trump’s “business acumen” has done! (And/or the cover it’s provided for folks who simply wanted to vote for a racist.)

“But people will eventually accept it, even if it’s unpopular” is a comment I saw so many times this morning. That’s what we call a self-fulfilling prophecy. This is your moment. Galvanize and organize people who are unhappy. Don’t make them feel helpless to stop it by saying no one will stop it.

By the way, this is one of the issues where you might be able to make some headway with GOP reps if you live in a rural district. It has always been the heavily red rural districts that stopped them from destroying USPS in the past. Reps know their constituents depend on USPS.

I feel so sick. Enough with the lies, enough with the games. They know exactly what they're doing. This is a neo-Nazi movement. Proudly so. The only reason they've kept it coded up until now was to take advantage of those who didn't want to believe it. No more looking away. Face up to what it is.

If "Immigrants didn't steal my job - the President did" is not the centerpiece of the Dems messaging from now on, this party cannot be helped.

Okay so how much righteous anger do I have to feel before I start to levitate? I must be getting close.

sure, mitch mcconnell cynically masterminded the plot to destroy the US constitution and american democracy, but you have to at least credit him with lifting up his own constituents in Kentucky to make it one of our richest and most prosperous... (touching earpiece) wait I'm getting new information

GOP outright trying to steal a Supreme Court seat in NC.

They have the votes to impeach and convict him So they are not helpless They are complicit

Public comment is now open for passport gender marker changes. You can go here to go to each of the three proposed passport rules, and submit comment. My suggestion: be unique, argue for trans-inclusive policies, against the constitutionality of the changes, etc. www.reddit.com/r/Passports/...

Okay, so who wants to go on twitter to tell MAGA that The Floor Is Lava was a big liberal conspiracy all along and nothing would make the libs sadder than watching them triumphantly run through the lava flow?

Oddly, knowing that they’re deliberately trying to wear us down and exhaust us doesn’t make me any less worn down and exhausted. (Yes, I’m going to keep fighting. No pep talks, please. But right now? I’m going to sleep.)

“put it on his fucking gravestone”

dear voters: please don’t pay attention to the latest fascism its a distraction from how our party is counting on your financial support now to defeat the fascism in 2028. click here to donate and show your

Everyone is so fucking on edge that my friend and I somehow got into an argument on WhatsApp about literary mag submissions.

AOC speaking to a thousand NYC federal workers and allies about the urgency of resisting Musk 🔥🔥🔥

A once-great, now-rotted-out ship called the United States is being sunk by the United States because nothing else can be done with it. This is not a metaphor. I mean, not ONLY a metaphor. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/19/u...

Protests are taking place all over the country tonight against cuts to vital federal services. Here in Washington, people are marching to SpaceX’s offices demanding Musk be ousted from the government.

Very grateful for this wonderful review of There Is No Place for Us by a scholar whose work has been so important to me over the years.
