I'm seeing SO MANY posts without alt text, all of a sudden. Pals, please, if an image is worth sharing, it's worth sharing with everyone. Take a moment, click the "+ ALT" at the top of the image preview, and describe what's there for people who can't see (or just can't load) images.

I absolutely love finding these illustrations of landholdings in the archives. The amount of detail put into the artistic representation of the land always impresses me. From the Malta Study Center’s project in Florence. #Archives #Italy #EarlyModern #SkyHistorians

I particularly like the text bottom right that reads 'View more objects from people in North Yorkshire'

As International Women's Day approaches, Archives Hub and Ffotogallery Archive explore how they are making informed decisions to include more female representations in their collection going forward -> blog.archiveshub.jisc.ac.uk/2025/02/04/h... #IWD #WelshArchives

🔭 🧪 #extragalactic 🧵 Breathtaking! This image from #JWST provides a wealth of information about Arp 107, a pair of interacting galaxies caught in the early stages of a merger. It's therefore an extraordinary window into the interaction between 2 galaxies, Source➡️ webbtelescope.org/contents/new...

Easy as ABC? During his first years of printing, it seems that Christophe Plantin as a printer with French origin had no letters 'k' available for this particular roman typeface, leading him to combine the letters 'lz' in his printed regulation for his employees in the printing office. 📚💙📜

Begging folks to include ALT text w their images so they are accessible. Esp at a time when critical info is being shared. Bluesky has a setting that will remind you to add text when you're posting an image. Go to Settings/Accessibility, and check the box next to "Require alt text before posting"

The Dr Williams Library is relocating to the John Rylands Library in Manchester! This is absolutely fabulous news! The Rylands already has incredible archival riches, but this is going to consolidate it as a major centre of nonconformist writing 🌟 dwl.ac.uk
