Joy. Love. Building together. That’s what this weekend is about. #Selma60

1/ Today, we mark the 60th anniversary of Bloody Sunday. On March 7, 1965, peaceful protesters were brutally attacked in Selma, Alabama, simply for demanding the right to vote. It was a pivotal moment in the fight for civil rights. But let’s be clear: The struggle isn’t over. #Selma60

None of us can be sure what will “work.” You try multiple things and find your way in. Read some histories of the Civil Rights Movement by those who participated. They were never “sure” of what would work. Some campaigns fizzled out. But persistence, creativity, determination, and focus were key.

I think some people, including on campuses, are unwilling to confess what's happening. They thought the HR version of DEI was silly. So they've railed against it at times. So they feel awkward speaking up. But Trump isn't ending DEi. He's overseeing the full scale resegregation of American society.

BREAKING: A federal judge in Maryland issues a nationwide block on Trump’s executive order to end birthright citizenship as litigation continues, saying it "conflicts with the plain language of the 14th Amendment."

The Trump administration moved quickly to dismantle protections for trans, nonbinary, and intersex people through one of the first of a flurry of Executive Orders issued right after the inauguration. While these attacks on transgender communities aren't shocking to anyone who know Project 2025 1/

Proud of the 150 or so people who showed up today to protest Children’s National’s decision to go along with Trump’s EO and end their gender affirming care. We all have to hold our institutions accountable for deciding to comply #trans #transrights #humanrights

I wrote about the importance of defending sanctuary cities and why any policy that make it harder for ICE to detain or deport people is worth fighting for. truthout.org/articles/let...

We must come together and fight back against dangerous ‘law and order’ policies that encourage more aggressive policing in communities of color. We cannot go backwards.

Feels right for my first post! Love being in community with folk ready to build and fight on! #FacingRace2024
