Useful article about lack of professional knowledge of ABI in the criminal justice system. Looking forward to tomorrow’s @basw-uk.bsky.social ‘Let’s Talk Social Work’ podcast release. @katemellor.bsky.social Steph Grant and I talking all things brain injury, social work and human rights,

Word of the day is ‘forswunk’ (13th century): exhausted by work. I like to add ‘foreswunk’, exhausted before you even begin.

Person of the year? 👇

Had a wee debate with Keith Skerman @adass.bsky.social - it’s time socioa social and probation reconnect in this month’s @basw-uk.bsky.social professional social work magazine. (Disclosure: Two social work qualified ex-probation officers). Would love to hear your views? basw.co.uk/about-social...

@fionadeacon.bsky.social lovely to ‘meet’ you. Would love to discuss your work if you had time. Am looking at the crossover between social work and probation (as an ex SPO, SW lecturer).

An ask: “let’s start a podcast” has come up again. It’s an annual thing. Does anyone know of a way to learn how to record/edit/publish podcasts? Am looking for ideally free and preferably easy editing software or FAQs. A kernel of an idea brewing. More archive than Top10. All suggestions welcome.

With Farage back on Question Time last night... ...here is your reminder that Farage was on BBCQT a record-breaking 35 times before he became an MP. And, further, that the panellist selection on BBCQT has been heavily slanted to right-wing think tanks and commentators over the years.

I’m looking forward to this. Kate + Steph bring proper expert by experience knowledge and @carolinejbald.bsky.social has a passion to get this right. We will only improve the situation of people with an ABI if we include all voices and work together. We can do this. It’s complex but not impossible

All recorded! TY! A full 45 minutes on all things brain injury social work. Recording will be available online from next Friday. For more about @biswg-uk.bsky.social & @headstogether.bsky.social please consider registering for our newsletter (free) or as a member biswg.co.uk/register/

Go figure. Our little charity went to court to try and stop last government telling local authorities through law and policy that children in care aged 16 and 17 don’t need care where they live. Court was told it would cost £500m to ensure care for every child. Not feasible, government said.

Bravo @deevybee.bsky.social who cited the shameful refusal of the Royal Society to expel Musk for what she believes are multiple breaches of its code of conduct. Musk was elected as a fellow of the Royal Society in 2018 for his technological achievements in space travel and electric vehicles.

Oxford scientist Prof Dorothy Bishop resigns from Royal Society over Elon Musk’s continuing fellowship: ‘a contradiction of all the values’ of UK’s national academy of sciences. Damn right. Why has @royalsociety.bsky.social not thrown him out? www.theguardian.com/technology/2...
