Just a reminder to change your furnace filter if you haven't in a while. Just because the world is in chaos around us doesn't mean your furnace needs to suffer. Signed, my poor furnace who was very happy to get a filter change last night and now does not sound like a sad monster.

A complete list of things I will deadname: Sears Tower Twitter Denali Gulf of Mexico Please note: there will never be people on this list, but I have the right to add additional places/things to this list depending on how stupid this administration gets. Thank you.

If you wanted to decrease the cost of homes, one thing you wouldn’t do is put a flat tariff on your main source of timber.

Remember kids, just say no to Nazi bullshit.

If, like me, you're having a frustrating morning, you happen to live in an area where it's cold and rainy, and you love a great soundtrack, may I recommend the Outer Wilds game soundtrack? Not to be confused with Outer Worlds, btw. The game itself is also excellent.

Someone was just setting off a bunch of fireworks at 11am CST, presumably to celebrate (🤮) the inauguration. If that doesn't sum up Illinois nazis, I don't know what does.

This week is hard, and next week isn't any better. What's bringing you joy right now? For me, it's that my husband and I installed some new shelves and we finally have our floor-to-ceiling library, board game edition (and yes, they're alphabetized).

Four years ago, I my mom messaged me, horrified at the insurrection. She's your average voter—tries to stay aware but not actively tracking every political moment. I thought "finally, a breakthrough. We can all get on the same page and reject Trump from politics completely." Today is a sad day.

Growing up in Michigan, hearing "and the Lions will be good someday" was our version of "when pigs fly." What a fun season so far.

As we enter a potentially soul-draining year, I cannot recommend one thing enough: if you haven't been watching Taskmaster, watch Taskmaster. It's all uploaded by the Taskmaster folks themselves to YouTube for simple access, and every season is a delight in its own way.

Remember, if someone has the audacity to tell you that your goal of reading more books, eating more pastries, and using more Oxford commas "isn't a worthy New Year's resolution", it's time to reassess their place in your life.

Have to wonder if the media has seen any of this? 🤔

This Black Friday, I decided to drop some dollars on a serious, grown-up vacuum. After a ton of research, I chose one from Shark, and with sales got it 1/2 off! Today, I got an email saying my order is cancelled because they're now out of stock, which means I've missed out on the vacuum and sales.

I really need my cat to stop screaming before he goes to poop. You don't have to announce it buddy, my coworkers think you're being murdered while I'm on this Teams meeting. Photo of the accused pleading innocent to all charges.

I don't know who needs to hear this, but if all you accomplish this weekend is reading a riveting novel cover-to-cover whilst drinking multiple kettles of tea and consuming a scandalous amount of croissants, then you will have accomplished more than enough.

There are some fantastic writers here, so I'm going to attempt to source some advice: I've been given the incredible honor and huge responsibility of writing my Grandmother's obituary after she passed peacefully on Tuesday at the age of 97. Any tips? How do you capture a huge life with so little?

I legitimately wonder what would happen if we redid the election tomorrow. Feels like a lot of people feel lied to or are unhappy with how they voted/that they didn't vote. Of course, that's not the world we live in, but it's wild seeing the voter regret so quickly.

Today is Transgender Day of Remembrance. Each year, the trans community loses too many lives, especially trans women of color, to hate and violence. More than ever, we must stand by our trans family and support them, hold space for them, and insist the scapegoating and targeting stop. Now.

Had a conversation w/ my husband last night about how to better protect our mental health for the next 4 years. His approach is to totally disconnect from the news cycle. I am passionate about staying informed. Hoping that this site and a few select podcasts will help me do so w/o trashing my peace.

Hello Blue Sky! Journeying here on a quest to stay informed without sacrificing my mental health. Figured the best way to start on a new platform is with some pre-emptive cat tax, so here you go: this my sweet boy Anduin. Yes, named after the WoW character and the river in LOTR.
