As someone who also lives in Salem, I agree. Immigrants make bomb food, help raise the crops we all love, and are generally friends and neighbors.

It doesn't seem like common sense to impose a big administrative burden to solve a non-issue. Lots of effort for little gain. It's motivated purely by xenophobia.

This is fucked.

It's almost funny how they always rant about "taxpayer money" when we lefties are taxpayers too. And I don't want any of my goddamn taxes supporting DOGE.

I live 3,000 miles away from the nation's capital and am working the day job I need to survive. I call and write to my reps regularly. What can I resist from where I sit? Seriously, I am scared.

I take back "abnormal" and replace it with "an emergency".

@wyden.senate.gov This is extremely abnormal and warrants an extreme response. Stop work until the madness is reined in. We are terrified.

I'm an Oregonian, @wyden.senate.gov, and I'm mad as hell. Kick up a fuss and don't stop fighting until this authoritarian is out of office.

Kind of stunning that they mention they interviewed a "pro-vaccine" doctor. Aren't most doctors in favor of vaccines? Is this a medical opinion that needs to be disclaimed?

Thank you, I've been wondering how to make those AI summaries go away. It'd be better if Google had an option to permanently disable it.

I don't know how they can accept POOP but not POOPY.

Darn, it's behind a paywall but thank you! I saw another commenter looking for this info.

It would be great if this chart was circulated with a source!
comment in response to post
I saw a chart somewhere that indicated that, but I don't recall where it came from. Here's a story that talks about algorithms being used to deny care along with a link to ProPublica's insurance reporting: www.pbs.org/newshour/sho...

Oof, I saw that movie as a kid too. I remember a scene of guys getting beaten with crowbars in their sleeping bags. It made me cry to remember it later that night.

Woo, that's a good looking pork chop!

Liberals are always considered the "out of touch" ones, although we all live under the same inequitable system and suffer from it in similar ways. Also many liberals live in larger population centers and are exposed to a greater diversity of people, which breeds tolerance.

I recommend taking breaks to watch silly Christmas movies, starting with "Hot Frosty" on Netflix. It's the fluff we all need.

I plan to stay abreast of school board meetings to see if any Project 2025 nonsense comes for my kid's education. Other recos: Contact your reps to push for confirmation of judges before Biden leaves office. Start supporting independent journalists, because they have very important work ahead. 3/3
