i uncharacteristically took a trip down memory lane for this (very geeky, sorry) interview about little big planet 1 - thanks to Ayee and Pear for pestering me until i gave in, and illustrating the edit so thoughtfully! youtu.be/zQTZDnR9AbQ?...

Sneak peek at the experts we have on board for our game finder "dating app". Supporting the Kickstarter enables us to pay them to curate 100s of pathways to amazing games. We launch Tuesday 18th. Back the project to get access to the prototype when we fund. www.kickstarter.com/projects/lud...

Discovered the 4x speed setting in Balatro+ WHY DIDN’T ANYONE TELL ME ABOUT THIS BEFORE?!? Runs are whistling by now! 😎

Nintendo Switch has now sold over 150 million units as of Dec 31, 2024

Back at Wish Studios in 2018 we developed a new multiplayer concept and built a great demo (complete with professionally-shot pitch video) and an art tech demo. Spent a lot of money on it. So many pubs "loved" it; three *massively* wasted our time and cash. Had to shut shop in early 2019 in the end.

Keep saying 'yes' to new things, and make the most of being under 30 with every fibre of your being. This is the present: enjoy it while it lasts.

My fourth 'Both Sides Now' column for Debug is out now as part of issue 8. I'm loving doing some writing again and sharing some thoughts based on my 25-year production career working in both indie and large studios. Hope some of you out there are finding it interesting/ useful!

2025 will be a stomach-churning turning point for video games

Also found a bunch of Jet Set Radio Future wallpapers, from maybe 2001-02, so thought I'd share these too...

Going through some old folders at home, trying to find something, stumbled across these Shadow of the Colossus wallpapers from 2005 that - I think - must have been official ones that Sony Japan put out at the time. Still pretty cool, so I thought I'd share!

Liking the little retro nod to the Tron Light Cycle duel in the Switch 2 announce 😎

This is amazing - and giving me flashbacks to playing Wolfenstein in mono on a 386 PC!

The UK is already a ‘sweet spot’ for many British creative companies and people that contribute millions to the economy. The gov should be careful not to give that value away to US-owned AI ventures.

This is way more impressive than I expected. The contrast and brightness on “Volume”-style LED walls outclass any projector, and if the room is big enough you can get a passable sense of depth. It’d be a shame if it’s just used for arcade shooters though.

I have this giant cardboard Minecraft head, signed by Markus "Notch" Persson, from 2011. It's this cursed object, and I don't know what to do. So I wrote about that, the fall of Persson, and my embarrassing wish that he could discover a redemption arc. open.substack.com/pub/botherer...

If only Douglas Adams was still alive to write the punchline to this story.

Am looking forward to this year's Games Growth Summit on 28th Feb. Last year, my biz partner and I were speakers, as well as enjoying some really interesting talks. I'd strongly recommend it as a great way to start 2025 - and it's very reasonably priced, too www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/games-grow...

Holy crap, I just got the early galleys for my book coming in April! Can't believe this thing is real. I'm excited for you folks to read it! And, you know, hopefully enjoy it. Beep beep video games!

As an addendum to this post about SingStar: I went on eBay and bought the later (2014) Ultimate Party edition for PS3 and found it has a ‘swap disc’ feature that lets you use the newer front end with the older discs. Super cool! Here’s 2007’s volume 1 songs on the 2014 menu.
