The only advantage is has over the House is that you can’t gerrymander a statewide election but that barely matters because the states themselves have naturally sorted as if they were deliberately gerrymandered

The Senate ran off the rails years before the first MAGA hat was sewn. The entire national legislature basically stopped working because a party of nihilists can control it with something like 30% of the national vote under the right circumstances

At the very least, the Senate should be stripped of the power to approve executive and judicial appointments in favor of the House. And if it’s not going to be fully representative, then an (enlarged) House should have the ability to override the Senate on legislation under certain conditions

It was a necessary compromise in 1787. It’s grotesquely undemocratic now and the political dysfunction it engenders led us directly here

Third Republic depending on if you think the 1787 and 1865 republics are the same

It’s past time for a Second American Republic

Put another way, since 1995 guys named Dallas have won the Super Bowl more often than the Dallas Cowboys have advanced past the divisional round

If you assume 5 years old is the youngest someone could have been at the time and still remember, Linval Joseph (36), CJ Goodwin (35), and Brian Anger (36) are the only three who could

What subtleties and nuances of right wing thought are we missing out here in our left wing bubble. This month’s new slurs?

I mean in a way you’re right, insurance is one of those fields where libertarian assumptions about how complex systems work evaporate on contact with the actual world. Without both regulation and massive state subsidies the entire US health system would collapse in a smoking heap

Little too much heat for him, even with his family’s five aircraft carriers I guess

Cured me of embarrassing libertarian beliefs and somehow got me a job as an insurance underwriter

Guys I think we might have a weird little freak on our hands (For context in the first screenshot he’s birthering Kamala Harris)

When I was a kid Schmidt’s had an ad on that giant triangle billboard by 76 and I always thought it had something to do with Mike Schmidt

Philadelphia is statistically less safe than New York and the vibes on transit are significantly worse and still for all of that in 8 years living here I’ve been nearly killed by cars infinity times more than I’ve been mugged (including last night!)

Different city but shout out to the South Philly parking maniacs who fight against permit parking on their own streets. Thanks to them I (a non-resident of South Philly) I got to hog a street parking space in their neighborhood for hours last night for free

I don’t recall a lot of sympathy or support from them when it was AOC or Ilhan Omar being threatened by these freaks. More like the opposite, actually!

Why on God’s earth are you making excuses for United States Senators. Like even if you think there’d be some unacceptable payback for denying UC or some other procedural obstruction, why should CA’s senators vote for him and lend him bipartisan legitimacy?

Dems getting it from both ends: Republicans hate them, naturally, but their own base is furious with them too
comment in response to post
Long past time for Republicans to get a taste of their own medicine. If a phantom migrant caravan can show up (on Fox News) every two years like clockwork then for sure every drunk orthodontist who lands his Cessna in a tree can be Trump’s fault

If someone had said “we’re taking a vote on whether the guy in the BMW crossover with Jersey tags who wouldn’t let you merge on the Schuylkill despite standstill traffic should be summarily executed” I would have thought long and hard about it and I’ve only been doing this for two days

Not that it matters, but I swallowed my reservations and was in line to vote Harris at 7:30 E-day morning, so you can cram it with that shit. You’re not being a brave truth teller here; you’re just an asshole, and if this is how you posted before the election, you probably did more harm than good

It’s got to be this guy (Btw isn’t it a little funny Jimmy/Saul didn’t do that much personal injury law. I know he did some but in universe his ads focused on criminal defense)

You cannot possibly believe that and I’m taking it as a personal insult that you expect me to

This is another manifestation of the endless 2016 primary, people who are still mad about Berniebros going back to the same rhetorical toolbox as if a genocide is the same as disagreeing on how to implement universal health care or if student loan forgiveness is a good policy
